2011 NFL draft grades, 3 years later

Recommended Posts

The Redskins gave up enough picks that equated to more than a whole draft class to get what they thought would be Cam.

I'd say we gave up less with just having a shitty draft.  Oh and we got something a whole lot better than RG3.

We got Cam.

Anything else would have been icing on the cake.

Marty screwed us in many ways, but I have to take my hat off to the man for picking Cam and Kuechly. Neither one were consensus picks, but Hurney rolled the dice and gave us our cornerstones for the next decade.

I'm looking at it this way...

Sure I only passed one of my six classes, but the class I did pass I got a 100 in.

But in that scenario that one class was good enough to get your foot in the door of any Ivy league college.

The name of the game in today's NFL is to have that QB you can build around, any draft where you get that player, it's an automatic win.

Giving us a D in the draft where we got Cam, regardless of any other picks, is a joke.

C at worst, I'd probably say C+ to B-

It was like a biochemistry class that no one had ever gotten a 100 in before.

    • Pretty sure that a QB contract payday is all the competition any QB in this league needs, I don't think a competent backup is going to make them play any harder when the current situation wouldn't warrant the contract extension yet anyways. Your opening point in this post is also the problem, "Bryce has shown signs of improving", but that's still all he's shown, and he's only showing that because of just how bad he was to start his career. If he played like last season from the beginning and never improved one bit, then I actually think more fans would be ready to move on from him, which is what's weird.  It's like going from one of the biggest draft busts of all time into the 25th best QB in the league over 3 years means he deserves a long term $40+ million a year contract extension. Improvement shouldn't be the goal when the result of said improvement is still bottom of the league levels.
    • Yeah, but we've seen him do it. Just not often. I think that's the reason for the taller WRs. Would likely be a problem finding someone like Jimmy Horn in the mess.
    • And the Rams, Seattle, Patriots, Green Bay, Jaguars and the Bills who all made the playoffs and in case you forgot, Seattle and the Patriots played in the SB. By any measure, that's pretty brutal.
