3-4 Defense This Season?

I have not been to training camp but I have heard that our offense is running the ball down the defense's throat. We need to swith to a 3-4 defense this season to make up for the loss of Kemo on the D-line. We have the LB's to run a 3-4 defense but the question is will Fox change, plus it would make Julius happy and maybe he would re-sign after this season.

LDE: Tyler Brayton / Everette Brown

NT: Damione Lewis

RDE: Julius Peppers

LOLB: Na'il Diggs

LILB: Dan Connor

RILB: Jon Beason

ROLB: Thomas Davis

LCB: Chris Gamble

SS: Chris Harris

FS: Charles Godfrey

RCB: Richard Marshall

I think it could work but like I said will Fox change?

fox is 4-3 guy, meeks is a 4-3 guy, we do not have the personnel for a 3-4 mainly because in order to run one you need a big NT which would have been kemo. plus it isnt as easy as just waking up one morning and changing he whole defensive scheme weve drafted for since fox got here.

That would easily be the smallest and most bullied defensive line in league history. Have you ever seen a 3-4 defense? Do you know what a 3-4 end is? Damione Lewis is a 3-4 end. Peppers is a 3-4 OLB. If those 3 went up against 5 linemen, we would have zero sacks from our D-line at season's end. Much less, do you know how long it takes to switch to a 3-4 defense? It's a complete defensive overhaul.

Terrible idea. Lets squash this right now! NO MORE 3-4 THREADS!

We don't have a NT to play 3-4. Fox doesn't run it and neither does Meeks.

Kemo is the only guy on our roster who could play the NT.....and the Ravens let him go b/c he really wasn't too good at it (I think)

    • Thank you so much for posting links to the players so I don’t have to copy and paste the name and look it up.
    • All signs point to legit. We’ve been way better than our record the last few years it’s just we’ve had brutal injury luck. Also I’ve watched nearly every game this year and 3 things have stood out to me even when healthy from early in the year to now: 1. Early on Lee had some brutal rotations and situational coaching but he’s improved a ton there. We lost some close ones early we should’ve won. Sure most our recent games have been blowouts but in close games we’ve improved a ton there. 2. Defense. Overall team defense has improved so much, it’s not just hot shooting winning games. This D is absolutely a real trend and sustainable. LaMelo in particular has gone from flat out bad defensively to above average. We have so much length we always should’ve been good defensively but it took time for guys to buy in and really hone in on it which they have.   3. Pretty much all our young guys have taken strides forward. Moose’s development as a passer has been insane, Miller is putting it all together to be an elite 3 tier scorer able to hit 3s, mid range and finish at the rim. LaMelo still some poor shot selection but has cut the turnovers considerably. Kon has been a great shooter all year but has steadily improved in other aspects of the game too.      It has definitely been surprising how quickly it all came together out of nowhere but really none of it surprises me. We’ve been building towards this for years now.
