I'm not sure what you mean by this. Fiammetta isn't even guaranteed a starting role -- how will he make an immediate impact?

I guess my thinking is that Goodson can be used now at different spots, where as Brown and Robinson will take some development time, more than MG. And from the reports Tony Fiametta isn't missing a beat at TC. He won't be starting but I think he'll be primed for whatever opportunity he gets.

Gotcha.

I think Goodson and Brown will both make immediate impacts, though they will be limited. I really think Johnson takes the starting left end spot, and Brown fills in some in pass rush situations. I'd also love to see Johnson move inside and Brown on the outside in those obvious pass rush situations.

Robinson I think will be great for us, but as you said, he'll take a bit of time to develop.

Fiammetta will also be a great fullback, but I don't think he'll take the spot from Hoover. It's funny, I think Hoover had one of his most effective years last year, but it was statistically one of his worst. Still, Hoover proved last year he was one of the better fullbacks in the league.

He's the perfect person for someone with Fiammetta's potential to learn under.

I think too much hype has been put on him. If he cant be both a KR and a PR really other guys deserve that spot who could. I mean if everyone is so crazy about him cause he could be a WR then why not just have a WR? I have not hear much about Beavers but no one said he dropped any punts ether.... Also Goodson will have to put on some pounds. At 6-0 and 212 pounds Delhomme is bigger then him. Not a guy you want running at LBs.

On one hand I totally agree. Funny thing is a player like Steve Smith blows up that theory. He's shorter, lighter and tougher than Goodson and can see lineman and an OLB when running smoke routes and reverses.

The only thing is because of his size it wouldn't be smart to keep running him from behind the line, although I don't doubt his ability to give a D hell. So does size matter? Or heart?

Goodson will need to bulk up for the type of pounding a NFL RB will take and should also give no doubt. The good thing is he won't be forced into a bigger role than his frame will allow due to not being a 1st rounder like Reggie Bush.

He may become something very special with time, maybe.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
