Why not Charlotte?  I think this city would support a MLS team well.    

 

Not that they are huge draws, but you already have the Hounds and Knights downtown in the summer drawing about 15000 combined (I don't know the actual figures) and thus taking away a potential 15000 tickets from the MLS team. Bring the MLS team in and all of a sudden they will start drawing away potential customers from the Hounds and Knights which could put those two franchises in jeopardy.

 

Bringing in an EPL team for an event unlike Charlotte has ever seen is one thing, bringing in an MLS expansion team is quite another. I'm willing to be 75% of the crowd was from over an hour away from Charlotte, and many of them were probably Liverpool or Milan fans from around the entire U.S.

 

Like I said in the match thread, if you're going to give the Carolinas a soccer team, put it somewhere in the Triangle where they can draw from the Triad and Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill with only the Durham Bulls as local sports competition in the summer.

The Knights just built a new stadium they're not going anywhere.  And who cares if the Hounds go under.  Would you rather have a professional soccer team or a Lacross team?   

 

You didn't ask "What would you like?" You asked what posters thought about the feasibility of an MLS team. Therefore, the Hounds have to be factored in to the equation.

Forgot to include this. The Rapids have their own stadium. Much easier to sell out because it's smaller and you don't have that huge rental feeattachicon.gif1407200195720.jpg

WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary. Used to be called SAS Park. Capacity is 10000 and as you can see it can easily be expanded. Already home to the Railhawks of the NASL.

I've never heard of it. But that's the way to build a league. Start small, build a fan base, and slowly expand. I'm tempted to become a season ticket holder of the Rapids because it's dirt cheap and a great place for entertainment

I'd maybe pay attention if there was a Charlotte team. Maybe. It would help if the gave it an actual nickname, not something generic like 'Charlotte FC'.

 

The non-use of nicknames in professional soccer is one thing i like about the sport. Sport nicknames are an American thing, but soccer is the world's sport. some clubs have a "nickname" but they don't go by it. You refer to Man U as simply Manchester United and not the Manchester United Red Devils

      I don't really get the Cam parallels. Cam was a monster and even with the refs not giving him his due he still ate. Where it finally had an impact was when they let defenses headhunt him. There are probably some refs that don't like LaMelo for reasons people can determine on their own. But I think most of the noncalls are due to us being a small market team and the league and the refs just giving zero fưcks if we continue to exist. At the end of the day it's up to LaMelo to rise above it all. Nobody is out there trying to take his head off. He needs to add some bulk in the offseason assert himself and get physical in the paint and take any fouls that might come along the way and gradually you will see the tide turn. But nothing is going to change for the better for him or the team if he just continues to limit himself to acrobatic threes from halfcourt. That's just the reality of the situation.

      Terrence Brown Jr. Scored 19.9 and 3.8 apg for Utah. He had a visit today, Juke Harris had one yesterday. Word is Knox is following Martin to UNC.  Avdalas committed today Jarin committed to returning  Young committed to returning  Adams committed to enrolling  Last I heard Mingo is still committed  So right now the roster is as far as I know.  Mingo, Adams, Avdalas, Young, Knox, Matlekovic, and Stevenson.    Veesar and Juke both have significant offers from UNC.
