AT&T Uverse

So the other day I got an offer in the mail that sounds too good to turn down. Basically $60 per month for 210+ channels and internet, plus a free 22inch Samsung TV.

Currently I'm paying TWC $66 per month for basic channels and internet.

Seems like a no brainer. My internet speed will be slower, but at 6mbps I don't think it'll be a noticeable difference. And Uverse caps monthly internet use at 250GB, but after doing some research it seems I'll never come close to that limit.

Any one already have Uverse or past experiences with the service?

I have U-Verse and my bill is $150 per month with all the channels except the premium ones like HBO etc.  My internet is 20mbps I think.  I don't know if I really need that much but they have told me if I downgrade I will not be able to stream movies.  I don't know if thats true or not.  The service itself is fine but I would expect to more like $90 for the channels unless you only want crap.

Damn I think they might be lying to you about needing 20mpbs.  Everything I've found online says 6mbps is more than enough to stream movies and play games online.

As far as channels go, I really just want NFL Network, Redzone and the ESPN channels for games.  Plus the DVR.

I already have all the apps like HBO GO, Showtime Anytime, Netflix etc.

The package I have has NFL and ESPN channels + DVR.  Are they included in the $60 or is it a trial rate?

If I'm reading the offer correct it says those channels and DVR are included. The offer is good for 12 months. I'm not sure what the rate is after 12 months, I plan on speaking with a rep to find out.

The only thing I would be weary of is that they don't have a lot of tech's.  So if you have an issue you are going to be waiting a while.  Just recently I had no service for 5 days because that was the fastest they could get someone out to fix a problem that was on their end not mine.  I've heard of other people with the same complaints but that was the only problem I've had in 3 years which I guess you are going to get with any provider.

You won't get 6mb, you'll get something in between probably 3-6mb I bet.  That's pushing it if you want to stream Netflix in HD glory.  Not to mention if you have other people using the connection.   Also, I'm pretty sure the actual television feed is through that 6mb connection too.  I'd probably want at least 15-20MB at the min.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Right now I have ~15 with TWC and it's a breeze to watch netflix on ipad while playing games online.

You sure its 6 mbps?  I got nearly that with DSL extreme, and Uverse is suppose to be faster than DSL extreme.  According to the ATT website, 6.1 is the minimum speed you will get.  Of course that speed is dependent on other factors as well, ie the speed of your home network and the environment you are accessing.

Anyway, I have heard mostly good things about Uverse, although its not available in my area yet.  Can't see going to the ATT television anytime soon though, as Directv seems to work very well as long as there are no storms.

Yeah that is at most what most people will need, even though we pay for crap internet in USA compared to what other countries get for cheaper, but that's another issue.

I've heard complaints about Uverse in the Charlotte area and most people switch to TWC I know or just cut cable and keep TWC internet.

I think 6mb 5 years ago would be fine, now that's cutting it close, if you even get close to that (within range).

Just pulled the trigger.

So upon closer inspection the "$60" bundle didn't include HD channels, so automatically add $10 per month for those. Also upgraded internet to 12mbps for $5 more.

I ended up with a package including all of the sports channels I wanted, DVR, internet and a $100 visa reward card for around $95 with tax.

Probably at least $20 less per month than what TWC would offer, not including the visa reward card.

Just be careful. What they told my brother and what they billed him were two different things. Took about five months for them to fix it.

    • Dang, we might not be able to create the same magic from last year!
    • If we were a solid winning organization most of us would have no problems with this selection. We would have had a capable starter in place to allow him to be eased into the rotation. If were told prior to the draft that he had been completely cleared health wise, we "probably" wouldn't have a ton of reservations about this selection. If we had picked this young man on Day 3 of the draft most of us would have no problems with this selection because we wouldn't have had to use draft capital to move up and get him. Unfortunately, none of the above were true 1)  We were a terrible team in 2023 and needed an immediate impact player. 2)  He was hurt near the the end of the 2023 NCAA season. We traded up to get him even though we knew he wasn't medically cleared to play in 2024. 3) When training camp started we were hearing stories that the knee wasn't ready. That alone should have raised some red flags. I personally would have red-shirted him in 2024 in order to have him ready for 2025. We had Chubba as our lead back and other guys to fill the #2 and #3 spots on the depth chart. There was no need to rush Brooks unto the field in 2024. Here's our draft history in the 2nd round between 2021 and 2024 2021 TMJ 2022 No draft choice. We picked Matt Corall in round 3 (#94) as our only Day 2 pick. 2023 Jonathan Mingo 2024 Jonathon Brooks. We have taken 4 skill players on Day 2 of the draft for the past 4 years who have contributed absolutely nothing to the offensive side of the football. 3 are no longer on the team. Two of them are no longer in the NFL. One  could possibly never start a game due to a knee injury. This type of poor drafting is why this team has been so bad for the entire decade.
    • Even limited as he was I still don't think they have replaced his production, and not just the sack stats. The games Clowney missed it was very obvious what his value still was. Risky move but whatever. They only had 32 sacks last year and if that drops then it's going to get ugly. I see the improvement in run stopping but not in pass protect in any way.
