Twitter question....

Still fairly new to Twitter. I noticed some folks have say 1000 followers. But they they are also following 1000 people. How does that work? Can u really follow 1000 people and what they are saying?

you can, but 1) you probably need a separate program like tweetdeck to do it, and 2) you have to let go of the idea that you're going to read everything. just tune in like its a tv channel, and tune out when you've had enough.

Yes because technically all 1,000 people aren't tweeting every single second so you will probably get 10-20 tweets every 5 minutes or so (depending on who you follow).

Best advice I can give you is that you're a semi celebrity online. Notice how many people the big celebrities follow? I only follow a select few and don't care how many followers I get because I have nothing really to say on Twitter

There are easy ways to "get followers", but not many of those people will ever care about what you tweet out. To actually build a solid base of followers, that will retweet you, message you, tweet you, and Favorite what you say takes time and dedication. It's work.

 

You can follow whoever you want. The more you follow, the more active your feed can be. And tweeting to a celeb won't put your tweet on their feed (for their milllions to read) unless they retweet or Favorite it ... which isn't easy as they won't bother to keep up with their hundreds of daily @tweets.

 

It is fun when a celeb follows you or retweets you though. Leah Remini (King of Queens, Saved By The Bell) favorited my tweet last night, lol. Gabriel Iglesias and Cpt. Lou Albano follow me haha! MC Hammer followed me at one time too. Right now I'm getting into comedy writing so I tweet to a lot of comedians, and comedy writers (all the Seinfeld writers, for example) and they often will retweet or Favorite you if you say something funny. It's nice.

Or you can simply put them on mute in the Followers list. All the perks of having followers without seeing their tweets.
