Let Cam Sit This Week

Cam is playing this week you can pretty much count on that, unless he absolutely cannot practice today, then they may consider the other option. i just hope it doesnt effect his throws too much

Again, I never said he shouldn't play. Read my post. I pointed out the absolute worst case scenario. I expect him to play. But, if he does, and gets hurt more, I want to point out that the same people calling everyone on this board "stupid" or being a douche like Red, would immediately turn on Rivera and scream "why did he play!!?!??!?"

This is definitely not going to be an easy game and we absolutely need Cam if we are going to win.  We are historically bad against:

New Coaches

Backup QB's

Teams that tend to sit back and play zone.

Plus our season open record is abysmal.

If they opt to sit Cam...  they need to do everything in their power to get the run game going.  That is the only way we win this game without Cam..        If Stewart, Dwill and Tolbert can suck it up and have a great game..and give DA the luxury of just sitting back and just throwing it up to KB or Olsen.

If our powerrun team can get back to running with power.... we will win this game no matter who is at qb.

Fair point, but you are grossly underestimating the value of a QB that has taken all the snaps with 1st team during the training camp and preseason and established a chemistry with them and the passing offense designed to work on his strengths.

Derek Anderson does not have that advantage McCown has, and even he, like in McCown's case, is lacking a proper O-line to protect him or help you run the ball, on top of not having enough weapons on offense.

Sorry to hurt your fandom ego, but it is not even a 50-50 contest with DA. You are grossly underestimating Buccaneers defense and also a healthy Cam's value to your team even if he does not put up stats.

McCown is nothing more than a back-up QB who had a few good games....only for another team to think he is the answer.  Much like Cassell, Flynn, etc..  he will end up disappointing in his new starting gig.

I've said elsewhere, i think either cam or DA against their D will do better than mccown against our D, and that's not overrating DA, either. it's not about him or cam. it's going to be about our D shutting down mccown running an offense ith no familiar receivers at all...WR, TE, or RB...running an offense designed by an OC with no experience against pro level teams and play calling probably done by a 34 year old QB coach also with no experience going against pro level defenses.

i don't think we'll score much, but we'll be able to score more than our top defense will allow.

mccown has had a long career by being that guy. he's still that guy who couldn't even keep a back up job for more than a couple years at any one place.

    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
