Get ready to see Anderson start

The downside is, HE IS NOT CAM. Our offense becomes extremely limited and less dynamic obviously, without Cam. What scares me is how dysfunctional our offense was last year, so many time Cam bailed us out from horrible playcalls and a poor supporting cast. Cam essentially has been the entire offense.

This.  Cam has been our crutch on offense since the opening day of his rookie season.  We absolutely MUST establish the run early on or DA is gonna be a sitting duck behind our OL.

You are not capable of higher level of thinking. Just stop quoting me.

This is pretty bold talk coming from somebody who has perpetually suffocated the rest of us with pantherclaw level stupidity. Your recent theory in this thread being a refresher.

GUYS GUYS GUYS ITS ABOUT TODAY EVEN THOUGH THE COACH JUST SAID THIS DECISION ISNT ABOUT TODAY.

The brightside is, DA could start for half the teams in the league. He is the best backup out there... that's comforting.

I'm hoping some of the chemistry we saw from DA with KB in the preseason carries over today, Stew continues to look incredible running the rock, AND Cam heals quickly.

No chance Derek Anderson starts for half the teams in the league.

He definitely wouldn't start over Brady, Tannehill, Manuel, Luck, Henne, Locker, Roethlisberger, Flacco, Hoyer, Dalton, Rivers, Both Mannings, Alex Smith, David Carr, Cutler, Rodgers, Stafford, whoever starts for Minnesota, Mccown, Ryan, Brees, Foles, RG3 or Cousins, Romo, Kaeperdick, Wilson, Bradford or Palmer

So who are these "half the teams in the league"

Holy hell people Anderson is an okay QB but you guys are acting like he's a Hall of Famer when he isn't even a top 10 backup QB

If this were true, he would have left when his contract was up. Nobody wants to be a backup.

No your choice then and now are way different. If you start him now your talking about adding 16 other games plus more if we make the playoffs. If this was week 17, he'd only have to fight for one game at the very least.

The way the playoffs are setup, you need to win your division games. Yes it's the same.

Why don't you take one statement in my post and run with it, while ignoring the rest?

Perhaps I embellished, but a lot of that depends on the coaches as well he would be playing for. He's veteran with starting experience who has performed well in spots. On par with guys like Fitzpatrick... but DA may have more talent than most of those mediocre starters, at least arm wise.

No one said he is amazing. I said he was the best backup in the league. If true, then after the elite QBs he could be in contention for starting, it doesn't mean he would... so say, 15-32 he has a viable chance to start. What is so offensive about that? Lol...

Calm down... lol.

Cam is my favorite player and for good reason... but, excuse me for not flying off the handle this time like I usually would and trying to find some positives if this is indeed the situation we are facing... it sucks, but I also don't want some Tampa douche taking a cheap shot on Cam and knocking him out for over a month if he's not ready.

He literally had one good season, that's it. Now if Chud was here I might have a little more faith. But history shows us that DA is more likely to throw an interception than a touchdown.

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
