Apparently the Steelers don't practice tackling

polamalu summed it up in an interview in 2 words after losing to the ravens...

...practice better.

Polamalu's comments in regards to the Steelers needing to practice better paints a bad picture for the players and coaches within this organization.

Anyone that has ever played a sport at some point in their lives knows that preparation, or practice, plays a critical role in the outcome of the team's performances. Polamalu repeatedly stating the team's practice habits are an issue speaks of a team that needs to focus more and put in the time off the field to see the changes needed on it.

Cant agree.

Contact is something you have to get used to.  I know when I went back for my first practice after seven months off, the first time I hit someone was jarring.  After a while though, you get used to it again.

Pro players have said the same thing, and it doesn't take that long.

Don't think we're talking about the same thing, exactly. I'm referring to whether you can do a good job of tackling, or not. It's a skill, like any other, that determines whether you have the aptitude to be a good player or not. You can refine technique, but like throwing a ball 30-40 yds. and hitting a receiver, you've either got it or you don't. I'd agree with brushing off the rust and getting back into the groove, and don't see why you wouldn't practice (at least part of the time) like it's game time unless you're afraid of creating unnecessary injuries. IMO you gotta go all out in practice (aside from creaming your own QB) once the season starts.

Disagree.  Tackling is definitely something that needs practice.

I've seen many a Panther defense that tackled poorly.  Under Rivera it seems to be more of an emphasis, and I'm happy about that.

    • Bryce has been playing the best ball of his career the last three games IMO. He wasn't the reason we dropped the game in NOLA. Seattle's defense will be his toughest challenge yet this season
    • I'll be at the game Sunday and up until last year I had a perfect attendance record. Now however I have seen us lose to the Chiefs (last year) and the Bills (this year). So we can no longer rely solely on my ability to pound overpriced beers to propel us to a win.
    • I haven't been able to watch Seattle on a dedicated basis but the Seahawks are a much better team by the all accounts: eye test, record and DVOA. Defensively they are sick. Best DVOA in the league first in rushing and second in passing. Offensively their passing game has been on fire this year led by JSN I can easily see this being like the Buffalo game where things just get out of hand for us early, that being said this league really is week to week and Seattle does have the disadvantage of traveling cross country for an early game.  If and big if, the Panthers are able to effectively run the ball and limit the amount of time Seattle's offense has to generate explosive plays we have a path to winning this game.  Seattle fans won't be happy to hear this but bad Darnold is always lurking in the background. He is truly an enigma to root for bc he will have an incredible throw that only a few people can make but then will turn around and throw the most bone headed pick of all time.  I think ultimately we drop this one as ultimately it's human nature to be looking forward to that week 18 game. But man how special would it be to be leaving the stadium on Sunday with a win and a miracle dolphins upset
