stats are nice but at the end of the day this league like many is about wins and championships.

hopefully in 10 years we will not be sitting up here amazed at all the individual records Cam broke but with no hardware to show for it.

Wins and championships is on the whole team, players get paid for stats and such. Yes, Qb's get Blamed or praised for wins and post season success, but you have to have a complete team to win and go far in the postseason.

Depends.

Some qb's wilt under pressure and some rise.

Sure Cam could play great and we lose by dropped passes, turnovers, and the D getting gashed. Ok no problem.

But if we lose from Cam throwing picks, fumbles, taking costly sacks, not making good reads, not going through his progressions, etc then that is on him.

Only time will tell.

Peyton

Rodgers

Brees

Rivers

Big Ben

Brady

Romo

Ryan

Wilson

Cutler/Stafford/Dalton can make an argument for all those being around Cam's level if not better.

Disagree with Ryan, Romo, Big Ben, Wilson, Stafford and Cutler. Arguing Dalton is laughable and where is Luck???

Rodgers, Bree's, Manning, Brady are clearly the top 4 QB's in the NFL. Little murkier after that.

Also, it's amazing what Mike McCoy has done with San Diego.

Flacco got his huge contract after winning. Anyone think they are in the running? Wilson was being paid peanuts last year. Despite the rule changes, defense wins. Cam should be paid, but if it's before he wins a super bowl, rit is likely to never happen due to cap weighting.

We can throw a ton of money at him, but the real question comes down to whether Cam wants to continue to play for us and sees a future.  Does he want to be The Face of The Panthers for years to come, retire with a statue out front and his name on the stadium deck next to Sam's?

Or is he only in it for the money (and only for the money)?

There's something to be said for players who feel respected by an organization and beloved by fans enough to be reasonable in contract negotiations knowing that they're going to be settled in once place for the next 5-15 years.  Raise a family, become synonymous with the community and the franchise.  Get a street around the stadium named after him.

BE the Panthers, in the same manner Favre (for the most part) WAS the Green Bay Packers.  (Or Tom Brady, Terry Bradshaw, Troy Aikman, Dan Marino... players whose names alone indicate the team that they loved to play for)

There's always something to be said for loyalty, from both the team's front office viewpoint as well as the fans.

Wilson and Ben are champions while also playing at a high level (top 10 QB ratings). They get clearly placed above Cam.

Ryan has had success in the playoffs while at times playing ELITE passing wise while also being ahead of Cam in the rankings year in year out. Thus he clearly gets placed ahead of Cam.

What the fug?

Am I in the twilight zone, or something? You've got coaches, general managers and peers talking about Keek as a Top Five defender in the NFL at 23 years old (on par with Watt and Thomas) and you're not willing to pay him like such because he doesn't get 6+ sacks a season??????

Yes, let's exclude his:

- Ridiculous Football IQ and Instincts

- Sideline-to-Sideline speed

- Tackling technique

- Ability to cover RBs, TEs, WRs and scrambling QBs

- Stamina, Durability and Motor

- Leadership qualities

Just because he's not blitzing 4-5 times in a game and piling up sacks.

Yes you are in the twilight zone. All those things you listed are what ALL the TOP HIGHEST PAID DEFENDERS in the league have so what it is it else that would require us to pay him that much more money?? Kuechly definitely deserves big money not disputing that but i think its along the lines of the highest paid MLB which he deserves NOT highest paid defender. Like i just said Willis and Matthews got a good bit below that number and they are about as good as it gets.

They are not clearly better than Cam. Not really following your logic here.

Let's see. Better stats and NFL champions.

Take the Homer glasses off Bro.

By that logic Trent Dilfer is better than Cam. They may have better stats throwing the ball but Cam has a ton more rushing yards. Both Ben and Wilson were game managers during their Super Bowl runs. As of now Cam is asked to do a lot more in our offense than they had too.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
