Beason says the Panters need to get a Vet DT

Per Gantt tweet.

LB Jon Beason: Team "definitely needs to get a veteran guy" at defensive tackle.

If he is saying this, then we really have a problem. Nick Hayden, the NFL's first anorexic DT, is not cutting it. Once he turns sideways he disappears and Beason is engulfed in blockers.

there is little doubt that the rest of the team feels that way. it's very apparent.

hayden may have moved up but you can tell that when he lost weight that stepping in kemo's role was not something that he anticipated. comments that he has made about it were that he didn't think of himself as a NT and was more trying for the 3 tech which is what he felt more comfortable with.

apart from him we have only undrafted rookies, really. bodies barely big enough to fit the job compared to what we are used to. as it was we needed more depth there and were only able to get those UDFAs. for depth it wasn't ideal but serviceable. to have to rely on them for starting...yikes. i think we have big guys that are worth roster spots but not starting material.

we need a big guy in the middle for rushing downs. we can do without him for passing downs but we need that big run stuffer. finding someone on the team who doesn't agree with that would be tough to do. this isn't about morale...it's about making sure we have the best possible team going forward this year. kemo left a big hole. it's going to take someone big to fill it that isn't here.

Rayzor, I don't think we need to limit ourselves to run-stuffers. Meeks played without one in Indy, and he's been lining up one-gappers in Kemo's place since the injury.

There's time to find someone who can help. No one out there right now is worth a damn anyway.

Well, he is just speaking the truth.

You don't see Broncos players telling the press, yeah we need definitely need to find a better quarterback. The one we have now just blows. These kinda comments should stay on the inside. Going out to the media crying for help isn't going to help any.

He didn't say anyone sucked. He, along with everyone else, just thinks the young guys are not ready yet and we need a veteran.

    • Well, the whole rationale used  for the high IQ point guard is it would allow us to spend our resources elsewhere….instead it’s all our first rounders ever since to support the bad pick.  Reality is our front office is just bad.  If you wanted Bryce Young you were going to need to do something unique and special for him.  Instead we just insert a QB with traditional tools into old NFL concepts that pair with traditional talent and our pass game is whack
    • Good to see some other folks are speaking the same language on this. It's simple common sense. But it seems like there's a disconnect due to the misplaced value the team has put on Thielen because he was the only vaguely good veteran WR willing to sign with the Panthers after we traded away DJ Moore. That time has come and gone. We have two first round WR's on the roster now.
    • Yeah I’m turning this into a Bryce can’t play QB thread. Just stating that offense was a poo show two years ago. No QB is succeeding in that, much less a rookie. I feel like it’s become a common debate strategy on here to just jump down the rabbit hole of saying he is just bad in so many ways when any certain point gets countered. If that doesn’t work we can deflect to how poorly this team has been ran. In regards to the actual point we are debating, the OL was struggling, half of the skill players aren’t on a roster, Mingo has done nothing with his new team and the staff are either not coaching or on their 3rd team in 3 years, aside from McCown (I liked McCown too). Honestly about as bad as it gets. No need to try to state how good of an offense it was billed it because that has been proven false at this point.
