Hurney scouting dt

why is Dorsey in bad favor with Haley?

The Chiefs moved to a 3-4 defense and Dorsey does not fit as a 3-4 NT. They're trying to move him to end but that won't workout too well and of course Dorsey is probably against it. It's very forced.

One thing that surprised me last year was Dorsey's lack of sacks, forced fumbles, and TFLs. He wasn't very disruptive at all, maybe even less so than Ellis.

We got Harris for a 5th rounder when we were desperate for a safety. I don't necessarily think Hurney is going to overpay just because of our situation. No matter what, there are always options, different players, different teams you can deal with, ect. If one team sees that you are desperate and tries to screw you then you just move on to option B.

I'd love to bring in Dorsey but we don't have the cap space, not even close. Would be great to trade a future 2nd rounder for him and rework his contract to give him 2nd round money (LOL) but the chance of that happening is about zero point zero percent.

Williams looks like a solid option. 4th would be the highest I'd want us to give up. Might be able to get him for a 5th or 6th even. Really wouldn't mind adding him AND Dewayne Robertson. I was hoping we'd add some depth at DT even before Kemo was hurt, so with him out for the year you can make that 2 guys.

Of course, alot depends on our cap space. Haven't seen any official numbers released recently but estimates I've seen have been 2 - 2.5 million.

not entirely true...at least outside of the organization. one of the slick things about that trade was that minter was about to retire but only the team knew. he was at training camp and as far as anyone knew he was going to be playing that year. we were just trading for depth as far as the bears knew.

we don't have that luxury this time.

    • Right but I'm not talking about other teams I'm talking about the Carolina Panthers who are heading into 8 consecutive years of losing seasons. We can argue about stats advanced metrics and expectations until we're blue in the face. Winning when the playoffs are on the line is a very key goal for any starting QB in the NFL. And not for nothing but let's keep it real here. We hung our hats on the Packers game in his rookie season after weeks of either poor or mediocre QB play. And now we're doing the same with his sophomore season albeit with a little larger sample size. But still picking and choosing what to judge just leads to an echo chamber on either side of the debate. We should all be able to meet at a consensus that competing passing the eye test and winning some games convincingly early in the season is realistically the goal for our #1 pick heading into year 3.
    • Y'all forgetting about Maz Mwansa.   He would be the fifth DE IF the cut Barno and DJ Johnson.  He would not cost us a roster spot--and that is the key. "Carolina’s pass rush is being reshaped under new outside linebackers coach AC Carter, and recent addition Patrick Jones II. While Mwansa won’t count against the active roster thanks to the IPP slot, his upside is significant. He’s been likened physically to Eagles pass rusher Nolan Smith Jr. and already shows flashes of edge-bending potential. Panthers Director of Player Personnel Cole Spencer summed it up: “Anytime you get a raw ball of clay like that, and the league affords a roster spot, it’s pretty cool.”
