why are you all so scared of the bengals? they are not a dominant team! they barely beat the ravens, rank #28 in total defense slightly ahead of the defenseless falcons who couldn't get going in general, they beat the rank #23 defense titans, Aj Green is the top receiver who is behind KB, rank #19 in defending the passing, their rank #18 in rushing and are #27 in defending the run surprisingly allowing more than us, and also their ranked as #11 in passing which is one slot above us considering Cam had a game off. This proves we're darn close if not better, Cam > Dalton, the record difference is the basis of your fear, and a trick play against the titans made them overrated. smh I won't even get into what Brady did to them but a hurry up will break their backs.

The bottom line is get them off the field and kill them with our hurry up pass to set up the run and play action or even Cam runs early on. Our secondary must be solid! I truly believe they are an okay team, fairly average and that's being generous. Panthers win!

According to this article from a Bengals beat writer, the Patriots really hurt the Bengals by snapping the ball quickly before Cincy could get their defensive assignments figured out.  A big reason for this is the Bengals being without their star linebacker Vontaze Burfict, who has been out with concussion issues.

Split seconds after the Patriots would break a huddle and saunter up to the line, center Bryan Stork would snap to Tom Brady. It was as if the Patriots knew exactly what they wanted to run, and as soon as they got to the line, they tried to execute the play before the Bengals had a chance to fully get set with their matchups. Bengals defensive tackle Domata Peko, said after the game that the defense was still getting their responsibilities communicated when the Patriots would be starting plays.

"We didn't have our calls in," Peko said. "We were still looking at the sideline trying to get a call in and they had their hands on the ball already, snapping before we were even ready."

It would smart for Shula and the offense to take advantage of this and try to get plays in quickly.  There is word that Burfict might be returning this week. His status will be something to keep an eye on.

Kelvin all day vs dennard , pass to open up the run. All about stopping there pass rush.

On defense its all about stopping green and cason showed why we bought him he been great on the big w.rs cason stopped calvin, marshall, vjax , cant see why we cant stop a.j.

Bengals are very similar to the lions , tough defense , gun slinging qb but not that great, fast rb I think we got this

Get the ball to the TE early and often. We need to establish a running game in order for us to have a chance. If we can run on them like the Patriots did we can open up the offense and let Benji and the receivers go to work. On defense we have to stop the run early and put pressure in Dalton face.

I agree here.  Their safeties fancy themselves ball hawks and are constantly out of position.

    • At the moment? Absolutely not. Maybe if they drop the next three in a row and go into the deadline at 3-6 I can see an argument to be made to move Rico as he's on a 1yr deal. I'd rather keep Chuba's contract though and roll with ETN + JB next season. The team will have plenty of time to see how JB is looking going into the offseason a year-plus after his surgery to know whether or not they need to plan for another direction.
    • I forgot to mention my thoughts on the rushing grade! 😮 He ran his ass off both weeks. I can't remember the stat offhand but didn't he have something crazy like 120+ yards after contact vs. Dallas? Against Miami he had lanes as wide as the entirety of I-95 to run through which is why his rushing grade wasn't as high as this week's. He's ran like a man possessed and going to earn himself some money in the offseason.
    • I'm not sure how much I'm changing mid year, especially when we are seeing some success.    Most Pass Rushers are physically gifted. Scheme and personnel help, but you gotta have the Jimmys and Joes, especially at that position.    We will likely lose games when the other team can throw for 400 yards, and has multiple high level receivers, but I think at this point in the development of our franchise, we have to be ok with that. You can't address every single issue at once. Really looks like we have plugged some holes on offense, and definitely in run defense. In the next draft, if we hit on a CB, an ILB and a Pass rusher, we will be pretty dangerous.
