Kevin White WR

Been pushing Kevin White for awhile now.  Think this writeup hits it pretty well.  Only thing I seen so far is that he isnt fluid in his routes.  Has Benjamins frame and good hands and times his catches very good.  Little shorter than Benjamin at 6'3 but is a better YAC runner.  Only been playing Div I for 2 years. Last year he didnt impress as much but this season he has burst onto the seen and is the leading receiver in the NFL.

Right now a early 2nd to late first round pick.

Really good prospect. Raw in a lot of areas, but the positives far outweigh the negatives.

Pros:

Size/Speed- Game speed is deceptive

Hands- He uses his hands well to catch the ball away from his body.

Powerful after the catch

Body- Uses it to shield defenders well, and makes adjustments to the ball in the air

Con:

Route Running- Like Squirrel said, he can be a little lazy on his route running. Needs to be more deliberate with his routs, or NFL corners will be able to undercut him pretty easily.

The below video shows his ability to pick up YAC, displays his hands, as well as some less than stellar route running. The drop at 0:40 is the type of catch he'll be expected to come down with in the NFL. Still, very intriguing prospect.

  • 2 weeks later...

Including one with the same last name.

The Pat White/Steve Slaton/Noel Devine/Owen Schmitt era was a great time for WVU fans. Too bad none of them panned out.

Tavon Austin is doing good for himself though.

I'm a mountaineer fan.

I wish we could pick Kevin White up.

Who does this sound like?

Quote of the week: "You better get some help." -- West Virginia WR Kevin White, who told Baylor CB Xavien Howard that after burning him for a touchdown in the first quarter. White finished with eight catches for 132 yards and two touchdowns in the win over the Bears.

Yeah while I agree a lot of former Mountaineers havent panned out.  Holgerson can teach receivers.

    • I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.
    • Where do we get our T-shirts and hats? Pretty sure this is the first championship ever in professional basketball or football in Charlotte!
    • Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
