Making A Trade... Safety on the block(Titans)?

Many have said this team looked lifeless out there today and has many times this season. We've been blown out 3 times this season, if that doesn't concern you, it should.

A single guy isn't going to be able to make a big enough impact on this D to turn this D around.

The trading deadline is coming up and Vincent Jackson's name is out there. Rotoworld speculates he could be had for a 3rd rounder. Since we're in the same division the price may be higher for us. I don't think there are any OT's that are on the block, plus there's more than a dozen teams that could use a OT.

Acquiring a guy like Jackson would help open things up for KB and help his development imo. This division is still up for grabs, VJax is 31 but hasn't really showed signs of slowing down. He'd be under contract until the end of 2016. Making a move like this could give this team a spark and more importantly the FO would be showing the players they're serious about winning.

Just a thought.

When we traded Beason last year, he immediately helped the Giants. Would be nice to find a guy like that at some position of need, but no clue who is out there.

As for VJax? No, for the usual reasons. Contract too big (Cap hit of over 12 million per year for remainder of his deal), have to re-sign Cam, yada yada.

would they trade within the division?

Who knows, but I'm guessing for the right price they would.

I just threw VJax out there because that's who I'd want. Trades sometimes spark teams, but they also sometimes backfire like baseball fans saw with the Oakland A's (sry Montsta)

The one guy I'd try and trade for would be JPP. He's a FA at the end of the year and would immediately help us.

I agree but it'd piss me off to see us throw away a draft pick when we are paying someone who plays the same position 13 million right now to stay home.

Why not ask Buffalo for Mike Wiliams?  He is not contributing much up there and won't until a better OL or much better QB comes in.  Much like the problems Carolina is having, the plays simply are not able to develop in the split seconds available before the OL breaks down.

You cannot get any value of what you have at WR when your OL does not give your offense time to for the play to develop.

Definitely good thought about making a trade.  I seriously doubt it happens though because the Panthers really don't make trades at the deadline or trade for players.

I agree but It'd be pretty tough to acquire any tackle at this point in the season.

So then are we just better riding out the season with what we got? I like to view football as more of a win now type sport. No one is guaranteed the next play so when you have players like Cam you shouldn't ever throw away a season.

Yeah, more or less run what ya brung.  You came in to this season with major weaknesses and a lot of youth.  Let the youth get some reps and at the very least they can be depth players and backups next year with any luck as you upgrade positions.

You have a lot to upgrade and you have some big contracts to start drafting but you're not at the point where it is win it at all costs.

    • I guess I should have stipulated outside the sacred cow.   I complained from year one that Bryce should compete for and win the starting job on his own merit but no he was just handed it. I have been right there with everyone that wants competition.  But I don’t really have a huge problem with it for this season the way it has gone because where are the viable people we don’t have to trade for? I actually am okay with tiny hands Pickett because he is so close to Bryce arm strength wise and to be honest, skill wise. Probably. And it is only a one year deal.  That also takes I to account that the QB class is looking stacked next year and if Young fails miserably then we get either a reset or a real competition and there will be more guys that I would like looking at in the FA QB class next year as well.    I sort of accept where we are this year and look at it as a treading water year. I just want to get to next year with some clarity. More than anything. And they did empty out the room. Again, who was really there for us?  And I know it would not be a true competition at this point anyway. They are giving him the year, like it or not.    Also I don’t give a poo about winning games IF he sucks and or goes down after sucking because draft position and that stacked QB class.  And I want out from under him So Bad.     So I guess it is several factors that lessen my anxiety over his backup this particular season.    I am not trying to convince anyone, but you asked.
    • What happened to King? Was he a no show?
    • think these smaller Qb's are going to have a much harder time convincing an NFL team to draft them. not saying a smaller Qb under 6 feet tall will not make an NFL roster .it will most likely be a UDFA contract more or less prove it deal.NFL teams have been burnt time & time again investing in these small NFL Qbs & i think  teams are now finally starting to realize that investing in these smaller Qb's under 6 feet tall is simply a bad idea  ...just saying
