@Mr. Scot - How long until you start preparing your Head Coach Candidate write-ups?

I know you said you don't want any shanahan, but I really feel like shanahan is going to be an awesome head coach. I love his offenses, and even Andre Johnson flourished when he was his position coach.

Mike Pettine has talked up shanahan in the past couple of weeks, saying he's getting ready to be a head coach.

Admittedly, he and RG3 did not get along. AT ALL. I don't know if that says more about Robert or more about shanahan.

I can't help remembering how overrated his dad was.

Maybe I shouldn't hold that against him, but it's hard not to.

His dad took Denver to 7 playoff appearances in a ten year stretch and won back to back Super Bowls in the process.

Mike Shanahan took over a declining, pass happy team and turned it into a rushing juggernaut.

By 1998 John Elway was just an average quarterback, but the Broncos had steamrolled to a second straight Super Bowl win behind Terrell Davis and a terrific offensive line. Davis rushed for over 2000 yards that season. Gary Kubiac was the OC, but the offense was pure Shanahan. It was pretty freakin' dynamic.

You can fault him for his later failings I suppose, but I am not sure how you can call Mike Shanahan overrated...I guess you could call him the worst of the 13 coaches with multiple Super Bowl wins. If his son turned out that good, I'd take it in a GD heartbeat.

Name everything he accomplished without John Elway.

Hypothetically, if the season was to end today and we did piss poor to the point that Rivera were to be fired than I can see Gettleman bringing in a re-tread that he is familiar with.

Keep in perspective that the Giants wasn't his only stop... There was Buffalo and Denver as well.

So we could essentially see Gary Kubiak or Mike Shanahan here, more so Kubiak.

I can also see Wade Phillips coming here due to connection.

As for coordinators, I can see Kyle Shanahan getting a look and possibly Pat Shurmur.

While I know these are not the top choices, I can see Gettleman realistically going for

I doubt Kyle Shanahan is going to go to another job to be a coordinator. A couple of weeks ago, he did an interview saying that his end goal is to be a head coach.

I know you guys are just emotional about the losing but Ron isn't going anywhere. He could lose every game the rest of the season and I'd put an 80% chance on him staying.

They will get rid of players and staff first. Ron's money is guaranteed for three more years.

I can't buy the notion that he'd keep his job with a 3-12-1 finish, especially not coming off a 12-4 season the year before and factoring in what Teeray pointed out.

Mentioning John Elway's name in this absurdly premature discussion of a new head coach is highly ironic.

While age had rendered Elway an average quarterback by the time Denver won its first two Super Bowls, Elway is 16 year NFL veteran and a first ballot Hall of Famer. It is impossible to doubt his football knowledge.

Owner Pat Bowlen basically handed him the keys to the Denver franchise back in 2011. A week after getting those keys, who did Elway hand pick as his head coach???

John Fox

The same John Fox virtually the entire Huddle wanted run out of town on a rail. :P
