Mark Barron via Trade?

Thinking about it, did we really want to pay Mark Barron 5 mil next season? He's not that good.

You can instantly see who desperately misses Hurney. Yes, let's trade away our 4th and 6th round picks for a guy who typically can't cover but mysteriously forgot how to tackle RBs and athletic QBs this season too.

It's easy to insult draft picks the past year but what if we find a stud in the fourth or sixth round next year? We got Benwikere in the later rounds this past draft and he's been very solid for us.

 

It'd be like using two more picks on Godfrey.

Actually if you check around the league, you'll find the percentage of lower round picks that stick on our team is pretty consistent with that of others (heck, that was true even under Hurney).

 

I know people expect us to somehow hit on every draft pick, but that hardly ever happens.

Godfrey cost us a 3rd.  I'd spend a 4th and 5th on a young Godfrey right now.  Young Godfrey would probably be the best player in our secondary.

Judging by how I saw him play in games against us.  I don't follow college football.  I also obviously don't follow the Bucs.  But at least he's young and has more potential than anything WE have at Safety right now.  I don't value those late round picks at all.  Yea, sometimes you can find a diamond in the rough (Hardy) but more often than not all you're gonna find is benchwarmers or PS guys.  I'd rather play it safer and get a guy I know can come in and START for this team right now.  And judging from the games I've seen him play against us, he would absolutely come in and start for us.

Rule of thumb: Never trade away draft picks for a bad player, not even lower ones.

 

Getting a guy that sucks a little less than what you have now isn't a good enough incentive for me to give anything up.

I even thought he was being overrated during that year's draft season.  But I'd take him for late round picks any day.
