When I was a child, I always loved the prequels more than the originals. I understand why the originals are better now, but children don't care about those small things. She would probably appreciate the continuity in the story rather than be confused over which set came first. That always confused me.

I'd have to stay prequels as well only because at her age she will identify more in the prequels as they were more targeted at her which will lead to her enjoying the series more overall.

If you hook her early with the prequels she will become a life long fan which will lead her to the heart of story along with all the new content with the Disney show(the Cartoon Network one as well) and the new movie coming out.

Given my age I saw the prequels first which hooked me. I saw the Phantom Menace probably like 4 times in theaters and saw each one after that on their premiere nights. I skipped school for episode 3. Maybe I benefitted from them being released as I got older but it gave me enough time to mature into the originals which gave me a more deep appreciation for them.

When she's older and can mental process all the story has to offer she'll thank you for it. Plus she will be able to grow up into this new trilogy which will probably give her the same out come I did.

Actually maybe start her when this new movie when comes out.

I don't get the hate for the prequels. I'll admit the first one was childish and aside from Darth Maul wasn't very good. However the the last two prequels both were good and entertaining. Dialogue was not the best, but it was enjoyable to watch.

I watched them in order.  Episode 1-6.  As silly as Jar Jar was, it didn't ruin the movie for me.

 

Start with the Prequels.  Let the story unfold as it should...from the beginning.

For the love of all that's sacred, watch them in order of release date. Episodes 1 through 3 only exist to tell a story that didn't really need to be told to begin with. The original trilogy stood perfectly on their own, and we didn't need our hand held by George Lucas to tell us that Darth Vader built C-3PO, and Anakin is indeed had the sex with Luke and Leia's mother.

 

That should be reason enough right there. That Vader is Luke's father is one of the biggest, and most emotional twists in cinema. You really want to blow that surprise for your kids? And that Luke and Leia are siblings! Really? You want to spoil that? Not only do the prequels suck, they cheapen the originals.

 

The prequels are horribly acted, have no story, and no character development. If you need more of a reason to start with Episode four, and maybe even forgo the prequels altogether, here is 160 minutes on why Episodes 1 and 2 suck:

A child doesn't pay attention to those things. I watched the prequels first and had no idea what would happen in the originals. I love the prequels but couldn't be more of a fan boy of the entire saga, especially the originals.
