We can't keep Ron Rivera or Mike Shula heading into bye week after that

It's a stupid decision when Cam Newton is hot, you're almost inside the 20 and you have over 1:30 on the clock. Every other team in the NFL would've played for a TD to put the game completely out of reach. Not that dumb@ss.

A TD does not put it out of reach. The Falcons still had two timeouts and well over a minute left. That's more than enough time to drive.

It's not a stupid decision, given that Gano is excellent from that range, it got the Falcons to waste their timeouts, and gave us enough time for another drive even if we failed provided our defense held. If we tried to pass, we might not have gotten any yardage, and the Falcons would have a minute left - with timeouts - to score.

1:24 is an eternity to get into field goal range.  Getting them to waste one time out isn't worth closing out the game.

playing for the 45-50yd FG to win would've been fine......IF there had been less than 30 seconds left.  Instead on 1st and 10 we decided to stop gaining yards and force them to use 2 of their TO's only to give them the ball back with plenty of time to win on a FG IF Gano had hit it.

Stupid Stupid Stupid

Clueless post on so many levels.

Rivera lost the game. Score a fuging TD and force ATL to have to score a TD to win it! You have almost 2 minutes left when you got in FG range and you shut it down? Stupid.

Who had two shots to win it? Gano. There were very, very good reasons not to go for it.

As opposed to potentially giving the Falcons the ball with a minute left and two timeouts?

As opposed to continuing to execute your offense and drain the clock and try to get six points. Being aggressive. Taking control. Not snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

It's been three years and Ron has learned NOTHING.

THEY SHUT IT DOWN AS SOON AS THEY GOT INTO FIELD GOAL RANGE!!!

They had 3 downs, not just a third down play.

They never took a shot to the endzone from close to the 30 yard line after Cam Newton had just thrown two TD passes on the two previous possessions?

Excuse my language, but that is "RETARDED."
