Mike Shanahan

Don't really look at the redskins for an accurate picture of shannahan. The redskins problems start up top with the owner and have trickled down ever since. Being in the Washington market I hear and watch all this redskins stuff and shannahan got the short end there very badly due how much they invested in rg3

in my opinion, outright no.

Coughlin, there's a full on link.  Gettleman had some amount of input there. No clue how he and Tom got along, but fair enough.

Gettleman was with Denver two decades ago, as an area scout.  He wasn't in the building most of the time.  Connecting him loosely to Shanahan, yeah, I don't know about that.

But simply on merit, no thank you.  Same for his kid.

Gettleman and Coughlin have both spoken well of each other.  Their relationship seems to be mutual respect.  I'd have to look for comments between Gettleman and Shanahan.

But yeah, not my favorite choice either.  Just a possible option.

Gettleman comment on Mike Shanahan from March of last year...

“I’ve watched some of the best put teams together and win,” Gettleman said. “Bill Polian, Bob Ferguson, Mike Shanahan, Ernie . . . I’ve seen some of the best.

That's about all I could find.  Nothing from Shanahan about Gettleman.  It shows that Gettleman has respect for Shanahan though seeing as he called him one of the best.

There was this quote from Coughlin that we heard about the time Gettleman was hired...

Dave knows what a football player is. He knows how to evaluate talent. He has done a great job of assessing our talent and the talent around the league and helping to identify those players who fill our needs. He is more than qualified to be Carolina’s general manager. He is gifted and talented and has worked for years behind the scenes to make sure we are the best we can be.

And we've heard Gettleman talk about Coughlin more than once.

I really don't want Coughlin, hope he retires.

Coughlin has an eye for talent though.  Look back at those early Jaguar rosters and the results they got.  He picked up on Mark Brunell when most had no idea who he was.

Having him working in the personnel department could be a pretty good idea.
