The defense was bad. Just bad.

 

The offense finally scores...the defense immediately gives up 7. The offense moves the ball and gets you great field position...the defense gives up the field position and 3 points. The offense goes 3 and out. The defense gives up 7 more.

 

The Panthers had a slim chance at the end. The defense gives up first down, after first down...and the Hawks run out the clock.

 

But this is the Unit that we pour precious resource after precious resource into.

Yeah, the normal Beast Mode technique is to "tenderize" the other team in the first half for not many yards, but then break through in the second half when defenders are tired and/or making business decisions. But other than a couple of decent runs, it just wasn't there today. Ditto for Russell, really. That's why the 'Hawks had to go to the passing game more than usual. Luckily it appears to be a well-kept secret that we even have a passing game.

Our secondary got fooled and played all night. 

 

He had one big run, blasted most of our secondary, and at that time our entire D looked very tired. 

Seattle had a week of rest on us, they have players on every facet who can be a game changing player, we only have around 4 of those spread around the team..

Patriots ran for 12 yards and won.

 

The Panthers stopped Lynch and contained Wilson (he only ran past our line a couple tines) and got absolutely demolished. Seattle knew we wanted to stop the run and contain Wilson and they sat  back, grinned, mumbled "fine" and proceeded to have their QB rip our secondary apart.

 

Our plan failed horrendously. Congrats on achieving nothing. This is the definition of outcoached. We decided our best chance was to make Russell Wilson beat us with his arm and he set the fourth or fifth best QBR in a playoff game after a few guys (including Peyton) who put up perfect QBRs.

 

I'm not bashing our coaches or the players. Honestly I felt if they limited Wilson to the pocket and stopped Lynch they'd have a chance to win. The Seahawks are the defending super bowl champions for a reason. Last year the Broncos could not contain Wilson, the guy had the Broncos D running circles and he was breaking their containment every play.

 

Nothing works against the Seahawks. Pete Carroll is a genius, they have an amazing cast of players including their QB. Honestly you have to go out there and reinvent the wheel if you want to win. Jeff Fisher did it earlier in the season. Few coaches have the balls or knowledge to do that.

Take back the fumble and Kam Chancellors incredible Gorilla Int and we win that game.

 

Just saying, we didnt get "demolished"

 

I love me some Pete Carroll though-- 

 

SO the plan didnt fail.  Stewart fumbled and gave them a free touchdown early.  The Kearse touchdown was a thing of beauty-- props to Russell, but our first TD drive was a Cam directed thing of beauty. Our drive at halftime was a thing of beauty until Rivera gave up for a field goal.  Who the hell has 37 seconds left, 4 yards for a first down, 18 for a TD, but lets 15 seconds go, does a draw play to tolbert then lays up for a FIELD GOAL?

 

Kam Chancellor got to Cam so we forced the ball to KB who had beaten Sherman for a touchdown-- but there was no route to clear out Thomas-- so Thomas did what he does-- buzz the play--

 

 

 

Then the game is still 14-10 all the way to the beginning of the 4th. Bene gets hurt, secondary goes haywire and Russell picks on WHITE,.........

 

The last back breaking int was all Kam Chancellor---

 

The Seahawks didnt kill the Panthers.  3 great plays and one retarded way to end out a great 2 minute drill did.

 

The Seahawks were in the same position back in 2010. We just did what they did.

 

To play mistake free football which wins playoff games,.. you have to play in playoff games and get better.  We have a chance to do that now.

Dude they got extremely lucky on 3rd down multiple times. Yes they practiced and got themselves in that position but bomb after lucky bomb when players are 3 inches from intercepting the ball is just lucky.

Another thing, Seattle aint got much time left, those rookie contracts gonna start coming up in force. Sorry but Legion of Boom is gonna be the Legion of Whom just like us last year sooner rather than later.

If nothing else, we can say we smacked Lynch in the mouth time and time again. Take away that big run of his, he did absolutely nothing. But, it IS Lynch, so he's due at least one of those runs per game and he got it. Not even mad about that run either. Defense was wore out and otherwise shut him down.

Problem is generating pass rush and staying in good coverage. If Hardy is in this game, who knows what happens. Line up CJ to one end, Hardy on the other, Ealy and KK at the tackles and let them pin their ears back and get after him...maybe we generate more pressure.

We were 4 plays away from winning this game. 4. Scoreboard won't show it. Stats won't even show it. But 4 plays.

      Saints trade WR Shaheed to Seahawks Seahawks get: WR Rashid Shaheed Saints get: 2026 fourth-round pick, 2026 fifth-round pick Seahawks' grade: A- Saints' grade: B+ One of the NFL's hottest passing teams just got better. The Seahawks currently rank third in EPA per dropback (0.25) and first in success rate on dropbacks (53%). And now they are adding Shaheed in a move that makes sense both on the field and in terms of where the Seahawks are as a franchise. Shaheed, 27, is averaging 1.8 yards per route run this season. But I think that sells him short because that number is down a bit from his career average entering this year (2.0) and he's been playing a role that includes running fewer vertical routes (34%) compared to last year (44%). Shaheed also has consistently posted above-average open scores in ESPN's receiver score metrics, including a 63 this season that ranks 28th among wide receivers. As a complement to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, I expect Shaheed will run downfield more often and be a bigger threat in that role than rookie Tory Horton was. When Cooper Kupp returns, he and Shaheed will make for a nice pair of secondary threats behind one of the best receivers in the league in Smith-Njigba. This is the time to strike for the Seahawks. FPI gives Seattle an 84% chance to make the playoffs and a 5% shot at winning the Super Bowl. This addition helps boost their chances without mortgaging their future the way the Colts did in the Sauce Gardner trade. Shaheed is a pending free agent but given the leverage of the moment for the Seahawks and their need I think they ought to be plenty willing to pay the cost. Shaheed is young enough to where if Seattle doesn't retain him he should sign a free agent contract that would yield Seattle a compensatory pick -- if the Seahawks don't nullify that pick with signings of their own. Because the Seahawks currently have $79 million in cap space next year, per OverTheCap, getting that compensatory pick is not guaranteed. The Saints are not rolling in cap space the way the Seahawks are -- and thus would land a compensatory pick for Shaheed -- but they got more draft capital this way than they otherwise would have. Considering New Orleans' 1-8 record, this should have been an easy decision.
