Call me picky, but I want a guy who does it all. Doesn't have to be the FASTEST, but I want him fast enough to make teams respect our ability to throw the ball down the field. Doesn't have to be the biggest, but I want a guy who can go over the middle and take those hits.  Gotta be able to make the easy catches and I can deal with not being able to make highlight reel plays.  We need a guy to compete with KB (or KB compete with him). Every coach will tell you that competition is good and what better way to light a fire under KB than bringing in a guy who consistently catches every catchable ball.

 

I want a average-sized, consistent pass catcher who has above average on-field speed (I don't really care about 40 times).

I honestly think Gettleman would have taken OBJ over Watkins if we had a higher pick. I remember him specifically saying in the post-draft press conference, when asked about KB's rawness, that the only receiver in the class that wasn't raw was OBJ.

Yep thats what the man said. He said the only receiver in the draft that could run a full route tree was OBJ.

I would be interested how he slotted the receivers. ODell, Evans, Kelvin, Watkins, Matthews maybe?

Also, as awesome as Odell is now, I believe we have seen what he always will be. Its awesome and he doesnt need to improve, but I dont think he will improve. Hes at his ceiling now. Jordan Matthews is at his ceiling now. He is what he is.

Jarvis Landry I thought was great for Miami, wish we could have taken him too.

Cooks we dont know but he showed flashes.

Evans Benjamin, Watkins, all have ceilings to reach. watkins will be the most hampered with his quarterback situation(assuming tampa does take Mariotta or Winston).

So Evans and Benjamin will make the biggest leaps, even if Odell still beats their yardage totals.

For the record I was all about drafting Odell when I thought we could get him. I liked him and Landry a lot when they were hovering in the 3-4th rounds.

Thats a really damn good peak. Im not sure how you get any better?

If he plays 16 games next year and catches 20 touchdowns for 2000 yards including league MVP- sure he got better.

Odell Beckham at this point last year was rated in the 3rd and 4th rounds. Even that firstpick draft game gave me a D every time I took him in the 2nd!

There will be someone that jumps like that again.

Maybe Rashad Green, maybe Devin Smith or someone. Who knows.

I don't think you should necessarily look at stats when talking about a ceiling. There are refinements in every recievers game they try and work on. Also playoff football. Crunch and clutch time we haven't seen from him. He's already elite so you have to look at more specific parts of his game when looking at the ceiling.

It's like cam his rookie year. Almost 5k ttl yards and what was it 35 total Tds? But everyone knew he hadn't hit his ceiling because there were parts of his game that needed to be refined
