Seattle offers extension to Lynch

The Seattle Seahawks are finally fugging up their cap. Marshawn is getting a pretty large sum to play as a running back in his thirties. Plus they have several other contracts coming up, including Wilson.

They know their offense would be even more squat, and Wilson would be quite ordinary if they get rid of Lynch!!

It's hard to spin it as mismanagement when you make two superb owls in a row and win at least one of them. Every contender has a limited window, it's what happens with a salary cap. If you can draft consistently well over a long period of time you can extend it, but that's difficult and requires a lot of luck. Let's focus on opening our window to begin with before we start bashing far more successful franchises.

But you don't pay for what someone had done, but what someone will do. Lynch's career isn't going to be productive much longer.

I honestly don't think they had a choice, without Marshawn they wouldn't have came back against the Packers. But I wouldn't be surprised if the take Gurley groom him for a few seasons

But think how much worse that offense would be, if you took away the threat of Lynch, which is what the entire offense rest upon anyway?

 

They kinda had no choice, and they know it. That's why they paid him.

 

At least Gettleballs, had the courage to know he could get away with jettisoning Steve Smith. Obviously, the equally as smart Seattle front office, doesn't feel that way regarding Lynch.  I would really hate to see what their offense looked like if he wasn't there, and Wilson became the focal point of opposing defenses.

Then again, maybe I would like to see that. LOL. Unfortunately, Seattle's not that stupid.
