Lance Is Already Gone Mentally...

He just gave this wack ass interview with the NY Daily News... His mind is already elsewhere. I've suspected the reason for his horrible shooting and really horrible decision making this season may have been because he didn't work out this offseason.

“I’m just trying to get my mind off of basketball, go to my neighborhood and get my hunger back,” Stephenson told the Daily News at an event Saturday in Brooklyn to pay tribute to Brooklyn Streetball, sponsored by And1 and Slam Magazine. “With me, it’s all mental. I feel like once I get mentally into it, coming back to get that hunger.

“Cause sometimes you lose your hunger. You’ve been doing it for so long you forget all the hard work that got you here. So I’m just getting back on that, getting focused.”

...

“It would be a blessing (to play in Brooklyn),” Stephenson said. “But right now, Charlotte, that’s what I’m doing right now.”

There are concerns that Stephenson — who is known as a volatile personality — wouldn’t be able to deal with the distractions of playing in his hometown. He shrugged at the idea Saturday. “Just play ball,” he said. “That’s all I have to do.”

Should have never signed Lance if they wasn't going to play him.... they never gave him a fair shot..... you ever notice how we build a lead with Lance in the game then they take him out and we lose it.... but the coach never puts him back in? lol yall kill me Lance is good but it's he coaching that is killing his production.

Yeah he has to be moved. In one article, he basically says he isn't hungry anymore, has lost his drive for playing basketball, says he needs to get his mind off of basketball, then says he just needs to play ball, all while saying he is thinking about playing for Brooklyn. Smh...

    • Look, I've been pounding on the Canales shouldn't be calling the offensive plays thing since last year. He's first off, not very versatile and makes Ron Rivera look like a master of mid-game adjustments. Also, because I think you really, really need to be calling the offensive plays from the booth with a better view of the whole field.  A coach on the field cannot grasp how the opposing sideline WR is doing in coverage while also checking the two receivers on his side, plus keep up with how the line is doing and if the RB is in the groove. Heck, for the line alone he doesn't have the best view of where the RB is going to see success and how to best exploit it. Hence Rico saying, Yo coach, keep running this.  Still, all these things in there, no matter how hard I'm banging on that drum, I can't let it drown out my joy in getting one of those rare Ws. Even coaches can learn and grow from them. I sure hope he will.
    • I fully understand the questioning of Dave and BY, just the timing of your concerns is my problem. NFL is ultra hard to pull off the perfect game. In all my years Ive never seen a HC have the perfect game plan and have great play call after great play call.  Tmac has helped in every game, honestly more than I thought he was going to show. It does look like he was in fact the reason to trade AT and allow Tamc to feast on his targets. I have re-watched the wins, I have seen Tmac get red zone looks. Brother, he's about the 80-90% of passing attack. Dave is young inexperienced HC and he's learning on the job, hope he improves along with BYs confidence.    Its going to be alllllll right, trust me as your co-pilot.
    • You cannot hate his character, but he is holding the team back. There is so much we can't do because of his limitations. It just is what it is
