Armed robbers stole about $4.8 million in gold bars on Sunday from an armored truck traveling north along Interstate 95 from Florida to Massachusetts, authorities said Monday.

The two security guards working for Transvalue Inc. of Miami reported pulling off to the side of the interstate about 6:30 p.m. Sunday after their armored truck began having mechanical problems in Wilson County, the sheriff's office said.

IMHO, at least one of the drivers is in on the theft.

(Panda says he's drunk and in Canada? hmmmmmmm)

Sounds similar to the Loomis heist. I was on the Federal Grand Jury in '98 that overheard much of the evidence. They couldn't stop themselves from spending money and the wife told stores and the bank that the money (cash still wrapped) was from her husband signing to the be the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys (not as if Aikman had retired yet). If she had said the Browns or Chargers no one probably would have noticed.

There will be a braniac one or two steps removed from the theft that has a rich uncle die in a week or so.

Doesn't necessarily have to be a driver.  A mechanic could do something cause the vehicle to breakdown at some point and have others follow the truck.

I finally got around to reading about this. There is so much moved by truck it would blow most minds. How do you think the military gets its weapons? Drug companies ship? In NC a high value shipper is Epes. They move cigarettes all over the country

A friend of mine saw Remington loading ammo into a Pepsi trailer. I guess it makes sense to transport high value items in inconspicuous trailers.

Ammo falls under class 1 hazmat. It would be labeled on the outside. Probably a back haul, took Pepsi locally but no Pepsi to bring back so pick up some ammo and drop it at a warehouse

    • How in the world are folks not getting open because of Bryce when he was sacked for what was then the 2nd most times a rookie QB had been sacked (until Caleb Williams)? He got sacked 50+ times behind a 6th and 7th string guard duo. Dalton played one good game against the RAIDERS? The same Andy Dalton that people are ready to take out behind the barn and put down so that they can have a UDFA QB in the room that won't be on a roster next season? I get that Aidan O'Connell is some Huddlers favorite QB, but Jesus... Again: What is the acceptable floor for a rookie QB with 6th & 7th string starting guards, a group of weapons where the only player getting open is 33yrs old, and the coaching staff switched the offense up three times in their first year? Why is it that I keep getting excuses instead of numbers in response to that?
    • Stanford probably should've won that game, all things considered. Not a great look for Reich.
    • Frank Reich had 3 timeouts and got the ball back with just over 2min left and the game tied at 20. On 2nd and 7, he calls back-to-back passing plays instead of a screen or a run to wind down the clock. They punted to Hawai'i who was sitting on two timeouts. Reich sat on all 3 timeouts once Hawai'i got into field goal range which allowed them to kill clock and kick the game winning FG. This was the offensive guru that switched the offense on a rookie QB twice. 🙃   I'm gonna need some of the "no excuses" crowd to keep that energy for themselves this season if Bryce keeps looking like he did post benching.
