do you have favorite courses and places to stay? some of my buddies want to have a golf weekend in may down at myrtle beach. my thoughts were to find a decent place to stay and just find a daily deal on golfnow.com each day we are there.

have you guys ever booked a golf trip at myrtle and what are your suggestions on places to play and stay?

Stay in Brunswick County, NC (it's cheaper) and you're less than 30 minute from Myrtle.  Brunswick Plantation has great condos.

Lots of great courses up that way too...  Carolina National, Crow Creek, Farmstead, St James, Sandpiper Bay, Thistle...

I personally do not like River's Edge and The Pearl, but that's just me.

I've played a couple of courses in Myrtle, but not a lot... we usually stay somewhere up north and just drive into Myrtle at night.

Listen to Biscuit.  The Pearl is great.  Sandpiper is one of my favorites to play.  Carolina National was really nice but Its been awhile, There was either a lot of damn sand or I was in it A LOT.

I don't hear that a lot so thanks... :)

Lot of great courses right inside NC line like Biscuit has already mentioned.

Played the Pearl years ago and after that round it made me reevaluate and reinvent my golf game. I had a bad day and the Pearl took no prisoners

Tidewater in cherry grove is real nice. The Barefoot courses are good. And Caledonia on the southend is great.

I should elaborate on that before I inflate your ego.  Only listen to biscuit in this situation because he plays golf a lot and lives in the area, otherwise pay him no mind. lol

National was when I was just starting to play and breaking 100 consistently.  I had a terrible day and it was hotter than fuging 100 hells that day too.  Isn't that a Fred Couples course?

I go down every year for a week with 3 other guys usually in the fall. We have done golf packages most of the years but I'll be honest, I am terrible at remembering which course is which. I just wake up, take a handful of aspirin and play where ever we are scheduled to play that day.

Recent trips have been to Seatrail courses (Sunset Beach); Legends Courses, and Barefoot courses. Out of those 3, I definitely prefer any of the Barefoot courses, honestly they are all very good. Legends had a couple good ones but Barefoot was definitely the best.

As others have mentioned, The National is good and I played TPC Myrtle which I think was a one of my favorites also. Most of those course have a regular rack rate of almost $150-$200 so make sure you look for deals as you mentioned.

If you want an inexpensive fun course that no one ever talks about, check out Possum Trot. It's an easy course that is also a lot of fun and good for golfer's of all skill levels. I have played that more than any other course down there.  It's not the serious business as many of the other courses are down there.

Before I moved to Texas, I used to do the same. Group of guys from work would setup a weekend with those golf packages. 3 nights, 4 courses for cheap. And you usually get strip club passes as well. Don't go in the water trying to get golf balls. And if a gator is on the green, automatic birdie. Happened more than a few times.

Too late.

Yes, it is a Freddy course.  It's very short, but has a lot of trouble.

If you guys get up towards Wilmington, Cape Fear National is fairly new and well worth the drive/time.  It's fantastic.

BTW I'll be Golfing in Myrtle for my Bachelor's Party this weekend. I think the courses have already been plotted, but cross your fingers for good weather for us!

Holla if you get up this way.

    • 100%. And these same people will claim you have an agenda. You can't have it every way. We had the lowest rated defense in the league last year. Statistically the worst ever. By PFF grades (for whatever that's worth- but they are readily accepted, used, and conveyed by most "reputable" sources), the defense was the worst ever. Not only that, PFF rated our receiving corp the worst in football last season. The absolute worst... out of 32 teams. Which is why regardless of the lip service Canales and Morgan paid to the current guys, they knew it would be criminal not to give Bryce more help. People fixating on team stats and not taking these things into context are stupid, plain and simple, and I'm for one thankful they're not running this team (or probably anything for that matter bc they obviously can't discern reality. Again, going back to the eyeball test these Narrative Nancies seem to hate so much, did they not see the windows Bryce was putting balls into? Have the generally not watched much NFL? Please, please show me the film where all these NFL QBs are making throws like this to this point Bryce was "below average" down the stretch compared to them. Bryce made more wow throws in that 3 game stretch of the Bucs, Chiefs, and Eagles than every other QB combined in all the years since since Cam got hurt I genuinely am baffled by people that can watch throws like that and act like it's nothing. I guarantee you Steve Spagnola, Todd Bowles, and and Vic Fangio didn't think it was nothing after watching the little guy torch them with players those teams would be embarrassed to trot out at the skill position players. The national media spent all year making excuses for Mahomes not having elite weapons when he had multiple 1st & 2nd round talents at the skill positions along with future HoFers in Kelce and Hopkins. Bryce wasn't throwing for 300 yards every week with David Moore and Adam Theilen in spite of jaw dropping throws and you want to say the guy played below average. For those people, again, we ain't watching the same sport. And the name calling doesn't change that... The vitriol and projection... it's off the effing charts with these people.
    • "Well you see if you remove this terrible game that terrible game this other terrible game and then focus on these games you'll see he's actually one of the better QB's in the league and he's actually as good as Jayden Daniels". My god this place is delusional. I love it.
