NFL Free Agency Update Thread

Of course but if we had offered him 7 million a year with same guaranteed money do you think he still goes to San Fran? I say no.

$16 million cap space minus $5 million to sign the draft picks minus $5 to 7 million for signing free agents and practice squaders during the season = $4 to 6 million to use for free agency

$4 to 6 million minus what we've spent to re-sign our own (Cole, Edwards, Dickson, Fozzy, etc.) = not much left

Sure we could have offered T Smith $4 to 6 million, then we say goodbye to our depth.

You're funny, please keep posting

Darrelle Revis' Representatives Claim An Offer Of $48 Million Over Three Years, Possibly From The Jets

Free agent CB Darrelle Revis‘ representatives have told teams that they have a three-year, $48 million offer on the table now, including $40 million guaranteed,

New England offered guaranteed money in “the mid-30s” and that the Chiefs are in the bidding as well.

This report does not mention the Packers, Steelers or Bills, who were mentioned as teams in the running

If we make the playoffs this year it will definitely validate the previous two years. Three years in a row isn't a fluke and our schedule is pretty tough on paper...at the very least the teams we play are usually good/tough.

If we didn't have Shula I'd love our chances...his presence really hurts our potential no matter who we draft or sign. Also how many potential upgrades are going to sit on the bench this year while we wait on their coach designated starters to get injured? Last year the injury bug helped us for once as it exposed what most of us knew and that is Rivera was starting people who had no business starting...and the better player was on the bench.

fugin Godfrey was starting...in the SLOT....last year....lulz

This coaching staff scares me...the players and GM I'm pretty ok with.

I expect an improved roster.

Better rosters can make lesser coaches look good.

NFLN just reported that all of the contracts Indy dished out to these proven players are short so that they will be able to sign their young players when the time comes

It's a shame that the NFL isn't allowing us to do that

    • These arguments are getting more and more disingenuous from both the pro and anti Bryce crowd. Bryce looked very good for stretches down the final 8 games. He finally showed glimpses of the guy that was projected as a top QB pick in the draft. Bryce also didn't look like a top 10 NFL QB.  I think we are so far removed from Prime Cam that we forget what an elite QB looks like. I could tell that when people were losing their minds and simping for Sam Darnold. This season needs to finally showcase Bryce as a franchise talent. If that doesn't happen, it's time to pivot. There are very few recent examples of QB's struggling or being a mixed bag through the first three seasons of starting and then suddenly becoming frachise caliber players.
    • See that's the thing what I saw in game 2 was so embarrassing id rather they could just forfeit
    • Are you arguing that his height deficiencies and footwork within the pocket have not been a present issue clearly seen on his game tape particularly in the games he struggled in? Because that's simply denying what everyone in this fanbase who have watched the games have seen. It's interesting how hardline BY fans here quickly and effortlessly pivot from whailing about being victimized to becoming the aggressor and hurling out allegations of bias and hatred. And at the end of the day while Bryce Young clearly improved significantly from the first two games of the season the reality of the situation is he still finished 42nd in yards per pass attempt behind Mac Jones and tied with Caleb Williams and 38th in passing yards per game behind the likes of Gardner Minshew Aidan O'Connell Drake Maye and Will Levis. Furthermore it took Bryce Young 23 games to surpass Panthers legend Kyle Allen's 13 games worth of passing yardage in 2019. So if your argument is he became a head and shoulders better passer over the course of the second half of the season the reality is we're still waiting to see that growth this season. And there is nothing controversial or vitriolic about saying so from the mind of a rational observer.
