Tomorrow is the first round of cuts

Tomorrow is the first round of cuts. Saturday is the second. If you're a team holding on to a promising young DT and want to get anything at all for him (like a late round pick, a la the Chris Harris trade), this is the week it will happen. Harris, if you remember, was caught in a numbers game in Chicago and probably would have been among the last cuts. Instead, the Bears got a fifth round pick and the Panthers have their starting safety.

If you want a young player with skill, this is the only way the Panthers will get him, given their position on the waiver wire.

Anyone want to take a flyer on who the Panthers may get, if they get anyone at all, and what they'll give up for him?

Corey Williams- conditional draft pick, depending on how he plays and the number of games.

If he makes 12-16 starts it would warrent a 3rd round pick.

If he makes 8-11 starts it would warrent a 4th round pick.

If he makes 0-7 starts it would warrent a 5th round pick.

But I may be living in fantasy land.

You really think they'll go as high as a third round pick?

I think they might have too. Do you really want Nick Hayden starting 16 games?

I think this would be a good deal for us. Cause we get to "pay for what we get". Plus it might would help soften the possible loss of Peppers.

I lkie this philosphy a lot. IMO the FO needs to be agressive albeit prudent in trying to fill the void in the DL. Sends a message to the team and hopefully provides a spark for a defense that really needs it. Even if it is not Williams we ultimately go after we need to do something to move the needle.

That is exactly how I would do it except I would tie the production in to tackles, sacks and starting games. That way we aren't out much if he underperforms but if he is very good the team we trade with gets quite a bit and should. That way they are more willing to do the trade.

If they want a player from us I know a 2nd round receiver that I would give away for a good DT at this point.

I don't see the problem with spending a 3rd round pick on a DT at this point.

Obviously, it's more than Hurney would want to give up, but you've got to realize that Kemo is likely done, and we should be looking for someone who is more than a Nick Hayden DT that can help out this year, as well as beyond.

On an unrelated note, I predict Larry Beavers will be released.

Edit: panthers55, Dwayne Jarrett has zero trade value. Someone who hasn't shown any glimpses of playing capacity at an NFL level that is likely to be released soon isn't appealing to most teams.

I wouldnt say he has zero trade value, he is atleast worth a 6th round pick on talent alone.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
