Ohio State wide receiver Devin Smith, one of the most athletic NFL draft prospects, has visited the Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers, according to sources.

Smith’s ability as a deep threat has intrigued teams. He’s projected as a late first-round, early second-round draft target.

And great breakdown, dude.

Fantastic analysis.  Would be a solid pickup in the 2nd round and would probably be plugged as the #2 receiver right away.  Grab a stud OT in the first, D. Smith in the 2nd, and that's a solid haul.  The offense would immediately improve.  If we draft him though we'd have to add the D in front of his name in honor of the true Smitty...

I always appreciate work and effort on here.

The only thing that I can say is that I am skeptical that he will just be able to run by pro defensive backs with just speed alone. He is going to be jammed at the line, and how is he going to handle it is anyone's guess at this point.  I doubt that he is going to be a good down field blocker also because he certainly hasn't shown that ability in the clips that I've seen. He just flat out needs more experience.  There really aren't any double moves or shake and bake moves to his route running like you see with Agholor.  And, it's not his fault, but a slower guy that always seems to get open because of an apparently natural understanding of route running is Justin Hardy who may have the more productive NFL career.

he does do a great job at stemming his routes vertically. he also explodes coming out his routes at full speed, which allows him to get more separation from DBs. he is not the route technician as Agholor, but Smith is better in contested situations. at the senior bowl, he would struggle getting off the LOS because of a jam on one play, but the very next play, he would be the press coverage.

No way that Smith is better in contested situations. No way, Cats.

Hardy is better in contested situations also. Both he and Agholor are more physical than Smith, and film study shows this.

not from what i seen, especially in the vertical part of the game. even at the senior bowl in 1 on 1 drills, he won a lot in contested situations.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
