Because as of now it's unclear what, if any, involvement he had. He may not have done it or even been in the same city, but what if it's a murder-for-hire thing like Rae Carruth? Even a 0.1% chance he was involved is likely too much to risk using a 1st round pick on him given the potential fallout.

His agent did say it was horrible timing in terms of them wanting him to come in to speak, but last I checked, his (allegedly) pregnant girlfriend was just murdered and his child lived... Don't know when a good time for that to happen is?

Like I said, he could very well be innocent, but this doesn't look good and it's the same way Carruth, Hernandez, and pretty much every other athlete involved in a murder case started.
