PFF Ranks Top 10 Defensive UDFAs

Norman has 4.66 speed. In fact his combine and proday numbers were fairly average to awful. Drill numbers aren't everything.

esp with CBs. Their backpedal is so important and nothing at the combine measures that other than having them do it as you watch.

jesus how did the Bucs, who are loaded at DT now, get another good DT? and how did the Falcons, who are loaded at CB now get Kevin freakin White of TCU as a UDFA? MFers both of them

Until ATL gets a front seven, they could have a secondary of Revis clones and it wouldn't matter. That said, Quinn might just understand that fact and be looking to correct it ASAP.

Clemson fan explain to me again why he went undrafted if he's this good?

because he wasn't committed until his senior year. Stayed in Clemson's doghouse his first three years on campus. His film prior to last year did not have draftable grades. And don't believe the he benefitted from playing on the number 1 defense nonsense. When opponents three at our corners, it was at Peters. The guy starting opposite him will be a first rounder next year.

So in other words, he did well last year when he actually put in the effort, and this all while being contested on a consistent basis.

Can you tell us why he was in the doghouse, and speculate as to why he was committed (other than the desire to be drafted)?

Thanks

Just typical stuff that you get from 18 year old kids showing up on campus after being high school football stars. Practice habits, class issues, and just being immature. There is no doubt that some of it is wanting to make NFL money, but from all signs and tidbits read on our rivals site, the kid really did start to mature. I know I keep going back to our other corner, but he is a special talent and has a relentless work ethic. When he showed up as a freshman, It helped Peters see what it looked like to really work. Again from all accounts, he busted his ass over the summer and it showed during his senior year.

    • Gotta wonder if Smitty's brain has turned to mush with how hard he played in the NFL
    • OK, fair enough--however, since my point was that drafting a QB in the top 10 is stupid, if you consider the players who were not drafted in the top 10 or those who WERE drafted in the top 10 and did not secure starting positions with the team that drafted them, you should see the point.  Is it smart to draft a QB in the top 10 when only 4 are still starting for the team that drafted them.  Next, consider that half of that number, 2, were drafted outside the first round.  Next, there are 4 (Goff, Mayfield, Jones, and Darnold) who are starting on other teams after busting.   That number could increase as Arizona seems ready to move on from Murray, Miami is not sold on Tua, and jacksonville is still waiting for Trevor to start looking elite.  Bryce?   So to answer your question, there are MANY more QBs in the NFL who have busted and become starters on other rosters, were drafted after day 1, or are still on the cusp than the four who have become elite.  I thought that point was made.
