Peppernomics

I searched for threads that outlined how Pep's salary breakdown showed that we are paying more for individual plays than we are entire salaries of key players. I found complaints about salary, but not the breakdown.

Since you are obviously of much more superior intelligence, perhaps you could guide me to the 1,000 threads I missed that contained that info.

Again, I am new to it, so I have not quite mastered the art of deep posts like your stellar I like to pee myself, it makes me warm. I will work to catch up.

The Franchise Tag seems to confuse people and it sure can get people bent outta shape when it plays out as designed. Peppers' old contract was through last year. He refused to sign the new one offered. The Panthers had the option to franchise him if they were unable to trade him for what they considered fair compensation and that's what they did. Because no deal was reached after he signed the tender, he gets a huge payday this year. His problem is that he has already tested the waters out in the market and came up empty. His future market value is totally dependent on this year's production. It's his only chance to secure his next few years value. If I remember correctly, Peppers actually played all the way through his rookie contract. To me, the 16 odd million this year is a supplemental reward for prior years service under the original contract plus "Franchise Player" money for a one year term. It doesn't bother me a bit and shouldn't inflate what people would normally expect out of a Pro Bowl level DE. If he can't produce this year, it's all on him and he will have to lower his compensation expectations.

I don't Pep for getting his money -we'd all make that choice. I thought the players we could get for the cap space could actually be more productive as a whole. If we got a 1st round pick, there's no guarantee that he would fit the needs.

We made the decision and move forward - I just thought it was a way of further illustrating how we handcuffed ourselves. If we used those $ for a decent DT, a lower level DE, a backup OL and 3rd WR, would we not benefit more than from "compensation". I felt like much of our success last year had to do with good depth and keeping Pep robbed us of the ability to reinforce.

Pep is a gifted player, but at his best can only play one position at a time.

Hopefully, he'll have a great year and get some decent comp for us. I still think the lack of interest in him spoke volumes.

Like I said,16.7 mil, more like 18 mil could of gotten us 2 decent DTs,2 decent backup OTs and $ still left over,Peppers is overpriced and overhyped! He needs to either sign a long term contract at a reasonable price or sign that contract(after season)that lets the Panthers trade him to whatever team wants him w/a couple of high draft pics!
i don't think you understand how much good DTs cost.

Well, just so you know I didnt write that I like to pee myself post, Kurb edited it. I made a link to what I thought was a fake website, but I guess not.

You catch on quick though....you already figured out that I am of superior intelligence. Good job!:D

There are already plenty of posts talking about how Pep will be making 1 million plus a game, or per sack or whatever. You busted out your trusty TI-85 from high school Algebra and broke it down a little more. Gold star for you!

Sure he does. There is a catalog that you can mail order DTs and any other personnel you need to fill gaps or holes in your team. Its so simple they automagically fit into your system and no one else is vying for thier services. The guys in the FO just dont like to go to the mall or shop and stuff like that.

i don't blame them. i don't like the crowds. the parking is horrible. the worst is when you go in through the food court and that chick with the piece of burnt chicken on a tooth pick starts following you around asking if you want a sample.

it's just not worth it.

No, they quite mailing the catalog because they were trying to cut costs. Now you have to go on the internet and order them and there is this whole big questionare they have to sign up. Address, first/last name, mothers maiden, you know the usual. Hurney couldn't convince Big Cat to put his CC # in because he was afraid of ID theft.

Thats why we tagged Pep. Fuggin' ID theft Fuggin' up our salary cap.
