Cam vs Jake?

I'd like to imagine how much further our 2004 and after teams could have gone if it would have been Dave Gettleman building the rosters.

We'd certainly never have had those boondoggle contracts we've had to get out from under (including, sadly, Jake's last deal).

Amen to that.  Hurney was a nice guy and treated players with out right class. However, he learned as he went (admitted by himself) and really put us in a bad spot with his poor contract management.  DG is solid as a rock and leaves emotions out of it.  He still treats players as they should be treated (for the most part), but still understands this is a business.  I believe he was ranked the 9th best GM this off-season; I fully expect him to close on the #1 spot in years to come.

If Jake had to throw the ball farther than 50 yards, it was a lofted duck.  How many times did Smitty go up and grab it in double coverage.  Imagine Cam's arm throwing to him in stride.

Facts. How quickly people forget. If Cam had a younger high flying Smitty, like Jake...no contest.

I think it had the right touch on the ball, no a duck (post surgery yeah..sure). Cam tends to put too much zipp on his ball. One could make a compelling argument that jake had as much to do with making steve smith "smitty" as much as he made jake. Prior to jake, he was an unknown atleast when it comes to offense. He was more a special teams guy. Also smith wasn't the first person to complete pass after pass to. Remember 04 and moose? One shouldn't discredit jake so easily.  Why blame a guy for forcing it to his go to guy when he had no other weapons.

In the long run cam will reach his potential and it will be glorious.  SUPERBOWL!!!

Cam and Jake both give/gave me the same frustrations stemming from inaccuracy. Both are gutsy though, which is awesome.

This discussion reminds me of the days when Jake would lead Moose high over the middle. The commentators, awful per usual, would say something retarded like "Jake throws those high ones over the middle because that is where Moose likes them." lol right...typical receiver that  loves getting pummeled attempting a 5 yard gain.

    • Not sure how much he was a long term piece of this team.   Sucks to not have him as part of the rotation.   Looks like it's Lee Hunter time.
    • This post was an error. Oops and sorry for the errors in the previous one. Too slow to edit.   We’ll see what they do.
    • I am not sure he will put the over the games but we’ll probably have them.   Two things I am thinking.  We have 4 preseason games.  All the coaches have enough service time to know the standards that are in place for decades. If I recall it was play your starters just a series to start woth and build it up until week theee where play a lot and you have week four to set hour roster. Evaluate before cuts.   Bevell will certainly have the whole thing down pat.   I’d they don’t do the fries and frie air will worry too. Because it is set up to do that.     I have said since they went t three preseason people have to figure a new way are still feeling it out and trying things.  We don’t have to this year.
