Bleacher Report exclusive on Cam

Here is an interview from the site that you love to hate, on the QB that you love to love, courtesy of Jason Cole.

Here is an excerpt:

B/R: The reason I ask is there are a lot of people who do advanced analytics on the game and say that you were one of the top quarterbacks from the pocket last year. And that's not necessarily your reputation. Is that a badge of honor to you?

Newton: I don't think it's necessarily a badge of honor. Pocket, no pocket, running, throwing, my job is to win football games, and I'm just trying to create some kind of way that's going to have the most impact on the most important stat of all, the win-loss column. I want to bring more juice to the win-loss side.

a quote that echoes a point made by many people on and off this site:

I was extremely excited for [Wilson's] recent contract that he got done, but I understand that his team is completely different than my team. His team, the thing that they ask him to do, is completely different than what my team asks me to do. And what I think he has done is mastered what his team has asked him to do.

People don't understand that you get drafted early, you get drafted to a team that needs your help instantly. Gone are the days when guys sit back and get a couple years, theAaron Rodgers approach. A guy would sit back a couple of years and they would know they are the future. Now it's like instant grits. You have to be able to come in and feed a whole multitude of people and get instant gratification.

Cam, don't ever change... lol.

    • TMac is a good player and would've been the right pick if our QB could throw a ball farther than 40 yards. For this team's current build (run first, game management passing attack) and the fact that our TE's are laughably bad - the five on our roster have combined for less than 600 yards total, with 3 TDs - Warren should've been the pick.
    • If anyone feels like they can't have a conversation about Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career maybe assess why and how these conversations end this way instead of looking to shoot the messenger. Why is it okay to label anyone else on the team or coaching staff trash? Folks on the huddle and across the fanbase on social media have fully thrown anyone and everyone including rookie 8th overall pick TMac fully under the bus multiple times this season. But some of you guys apparently expect a pat on the back because Bryce Young successfully evaded a few potential sacks while Tyler Shough got consumed by our pass rush throughout the game and still had a superior performance. The state of this division is hilariously mediocre at best. Bryce Young is the only player on this roster who is allowed to have the lowest bar possible yet we have invested the most resources in him. It's lunacy.
    • Bussi in net against the team that waived him
