75 man cuts predictions

Corey 'Fubar' Brown!

Any player with this kind of preseason performance who is not a key piece is either buried on the depth chart or cut. At least, any coach wanting to build a winning team. Rivera and Shula seem to value practice players more than they do game time players.

Kind of like the producer and directors who stand behind their great rehearsal players regardless if they freeze when the curtain goes up. Oh wait. That does not happen.

Well, like the sales reps who pass mock calls with flying colors, but lose their mind when they are meeting people in the field. Oh wait. That does not happen either.

Hmmmm. Is there any other profession with a manager or CEO who will value employees in training over production when money and the company's future is on the line?

This vexes me.

Todman, Trusnik, T. Williams, Cox, Browning, Lucas and Whitaker to name a few.

All of those may not make the team, but most should get through the first cut. Honestly I think all but Browning make it past Monday. Kelvin will go to IR and Presley is still on PUP, so in reality only 13 cuts are needed. My guess at those 13...

Browning, Capers, Horsely, Hills, Henry, Alecxih, McCray, Reddick, Blechen, Wile (for the 4th time), Redden, Walker, D. Wallace

You don't think Redden's interception buys him a little more time?

Before I make my predictions, a few comments. (I've not yet looked at any of the comments here, I'm wanting to finish and post my predictions before I do so.)

1) Damn, this is a really hard exercise.  Not only do we have a lot of good depth making it tough to cut even some of the 1st 15 off the roster, but with so many players injured, we have to leave ourselves enough of a roster to play Pittsburgh without risking our primary backups too much.  Quite a few players I would normally have in the first round of cuts I'm thinking need to stay in order to play against Pittsburgh.

2) It's really hard to balance position groups.  For instance, I'm not wanting to cut ANY WRs yet given our current desperation at that position, but I don't see how to avoid it...

3) The youth vs. experience question is tough.  And also it's tough to cut guys who played last year and worked their butts off.  But you know it's got to be done... I'm really glad I'm not G'man or Rivera.

4) I'll be willing to compile a list of how many "votes" to cut each roster player if that's of interest to people...

Here's my list of players I think will be in the first round of cuts:

65Alecxih, ChasDT
50Blechen, BrianLB
7Browning, PaulWR
37Byndom, CarringtonCB
81Capers, AviusWR
63Foucault, DavidT
65Henry, RickyG
75Hills, TonyT
69Horsley, KennyDT
62McCray, JordanG
71Miley, ArthurDE
52Reddick, KevinLB
85Walker, DallasTE
71Wallace, DavonteT
6Wile, MattP

UPDATE:  If we only need to cut 13, I think Byndom & Foucault are safe this round, but I do think both are at risk of getting cut in round 2, perhaps both going to the PS if eligible.

I was wondering about when Kelvin can go on IR, and also about Presley's status on the PUP, whether he counts against the 75.  If we only need to make 13 cuts, I'll revise my list above.

At this point I think T. Williams, Lucas and Whittaker all still have a strong chance to make the 53 (in that order with Williams being the most likely to make it.)

I don't see how both Todman & Whittaker are cut.  I am pretty sure we'll keep 4 RBs + a FB (STEW, CAP,  Whittaker or Todman, Wegher) & Tolbert.

Wow, we've got almost the same list.  Only difference is you've got Redden and I've got Miley.

I think Miley may make it past the 75 cut. Why doesn't the Stephen Hill injury also get us another spot going to the IR?

Hill is already on the IR, as is Alexander.  They don't count against the active roster.  Both already cleared waivers and were vulnerable to being picked up by another team for 24 hours at that point.  We're not gonna take that risk with Kelvin.  No way no how.

We have 89 players on the active roster, 1 on PUP and 3 on IR at the moment.  (Hill, Alexander, and Greene)

Bersin please

I think you're trolling?  Um, I think having a WR who can catch the d&*n ball would be a premium at this point.  I can assure you that unless Gettleman trades for a few proven star WRs  Bersin is guaranteed to make the roster.

    • Now now now, I wouldn't say there is no logic, but there's just not a lot of in-depth thought put into Barnwell's  "analysis." Now to be fair to him (and other national writers), pre-season team rankings are basically clickbait. And...Barnwell, himself, said that "there's a lot of projection here." He basically admits that he doesn't know how the hell things are going to turn out with our receiver group. He also said that "I find myself" more intrigued by Coker than Legette; that does not mean that he said that fans should be, or that Coker will even be better than Legette (regardless of ESPN's per-route-run stat). So, yeah, Barnwell said some things, but even he has to basically admit that he doesn't know how bad or good that our playmakers will be in 2025.  Overall, what Barnwell is basically thinking is that the Panthers have gotten worse at the offensive skill positions, and baked into that is that others have gotten better. That's the argument in July (meaning, please don't give this any more weight than it's due). I would personally be surprised (not shocked) if we end up worse than the Titans, Pats and Giants at least. Once you throw in the Bills, Giants, Jets, Steelers, and even the Chargers, I personally think there are several teams' skill groups that may end up ranked lower than ours by the end of 2025.  @kungfoodudeis one of my dudes, but like others he is over the tipping point. He's had enough. Seeing is believing. I will say this though: Barnwell's piece is less about logic than just good ol' opinion. And to be honest, he might as well be a Huddler throwing out sh¡t in the summer based upon nothing but good feels or bad feels.  Our offense as a whole (just like any other team's) is going to depend upon the play of the O-line and especially the QB. How you can even rank the skill positions without expressly baking those two things in the cake is beyond me. I would dare say that that's not even logical.
    • Football is not the professional sport where timidness and apprehension are justly rewarded.
    • Bryce Young had a super high floor definitely at least won't be a bust safe pick we allegedly had seen in some time.......and went on to have one of the worst rookie seasons of all time.  They are all lotto picks.  And that is especially true for whatever they will be day 1 in the NFL.  I don't think Tmac is a sure thing year 1.  It's not like we watched him do his thing in the SEC.  He was a PAC12 guy.  I'm sure it will take time
