Inside the NFL can bite me

so they spend a few host segments praising Cam and the Panthers... That's great, love it.

But when it comes time for the NFL package for the CARvsTB game, all we get are the following:

  • a shot of the flamethrower during the Bucs intros
  • a shot of a Bucs cheerleader in the rain
  • That first interception pick 6
  • the fun fumble touchdown run that we all loved

NOTHING about how bad the TB kicker was. Nothing about how awesome Cam was (he really didn't have the numbers on Sunday vs what he normally does, but still)

if you're going to spend time commenting on how good we are and that we are one of 6 remaining undefeated teams left this week, at least give us the dignity of a decent clip package

at least we don't have to watch next week.

Let's go over what they showed:

1) Flamethrower... Dude, that's fire, that's cool, looks good on TV

2) Bucs Cheerleaders in the Raid ... They could broadcast four straight hours of that and it would be quality programming.

3) Pick Six Interception ... Woot! Go Team!

4) Fun Fumble ... Instant Classic, will be on Football Follies and blooper reels for years to come.

Beyond that, there really wasn't that much of interest if you aren't a Panthers fan. 14 games or so to cover in an hour, with 12 minutes of Phil Simms blathering on means there's only so much time for each game. And that sure wasn't the marquis match up. I mean, would you want a long video piece on the Cleveland/San Diego game? Nah... who would?

Now the Seahawks game... that one will be worth a longer look. Especially if there are cheerleaders in the rain again. Can't get enough of that!

sometimes they dumb down panther highlights packages because america doesn't care, but for the most part there haven't been any highlights worth showing. It's always gonna be cam doing something, the defense getting a turnover and the final box score. Nobody living in new mexico will ever care about the panthers and want to see a 5 min highlight package of them beating the bucs

I liked that show so much more when it was Collinsworth, Sapp, Simms and Brown.  I don't like the new guys as much and I don't get having Brandon Marshall as one of the hosts.  He seems like a nice guy and great receiver but I just don't like having a current player on the show.  I'm just turning into an old codger I guess.

You have much to learn grasshopper.

The road goes on forever and the party never ends.

Totally agree that the show on HBO was great, and the version on SHO with Collingsworth et al was significantly better than the crapfest they have going this year -- but Inside the NFL on SHO has regularly ignored the Panthers, with some episodes NOT EVEN SHOWING A CLIP, or we're relegated back to the final 2 minutes of the show.

Not every game can be stellar from a clip/storyline perspective, but the NFL (who helps produce the show) should have some perspective on who they should be making proper sizzle reels of as the season progresses:

  • Panthers are one of six undefeated teams left
  • Cam is being lauded as playing at his best
  • Norman is having a stellar season thus far, as is the rest of the defense (FANTASY POINTS!)
  • Accolades are being tossed our way from a number of sources
  • When the hosts of the show talk A LOT about the team, the "show that the players watch" should try to be a little more even with their coverage.

Even the Atlanta/Houston game got a decent reel, and that was a total blowout.

Agree with all of this, with the exception of "Woot!". Why the "t" on the end? Just tried it out loud. "Woooooooooooooooooooooo....t!" Not only does it sound a little funny, but my coworkers also look alarmed.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
