Will Asante Samuel shut down Steve Smith?

Dont you guys know that everytime the WR doesnt catch the ball, its because Jake is a terrible QB, and cant throw it straight? Its never because the WR ran a bad route, or the ball was tipped, or a CB made a good play on the ball???? Obviously Jake is the worst QB to ever put on an NFL jersey.

Oh yeah...because we play the Raiders alot right? how many CBs go against specific WRs not in the their divisions more than once or twice in their careers? Try not to choke on those sour grapes kid

I don't care, I wanna see someone shutdown Smitty more than once before I'll agree that they're able to shut him down on a consistent basis.

What Rello said was true in a way. Hall plays Steve Smith pretty good. He cannot however shut him down. Last time they played was Deangelo's meltdown game, and Steve was going to the house on him when he tackled him and got the PI penalty.

Asomugha broke up 2 passes that Jake threw to Steve and it wasn't because they were extremely bad throws. Asomugha ran the route better than Steve Smith did. He best corner in league period. Anyone who watched that game would realize this.

Samuels is a good cornerback also. I think with the proper scheme he is good enough to "contain" Steve Smith. 1 on 1, it wouldn't be a contest, but thats why its the Eagles vs Panthers and not Steve Smith vs Asante Samuels.

He is def one of the best but Delhomme had a horrible day no matter what you say. Really he had a horrible year and was not all that great threw the entire season. Also Dwill racked up over 140 yards that game so why would we throw it to smith when we were controlling the game from the ground. The fact is if we can run we are not gonna pass with Fox.

    • There is a Grand Canyon-sized chasm between your opinion and the opinions of most former player hockey guys who do this for a living.
    • I can only imagine the **** eating grins on the committee right now. "Oh, Bama didn't deserve it? Oh, Miami didn't deserve it? Suck it, haters!" lol
    • To say that, is gaslighting, because it isn’t true. I mean, maybe one or two people do that but it isn’t the predominant behavior. Even Frank has given him credit. I think particularly the Rams game. A couple of glowing posts.   I know I have. Gotta be honest about it because if you aren’t it undermines what else you say.  But the degree of how far I go with credit, in terms of it being a projection of future performance? Not very far. Acknowledge it, but require more of it. There is a lot of bad play to offset.    I tried to remain passive while the last 9 games (post ankle injury) played out. It is just really hard when the lows won’t go away. I failed. As high as a couple of those highs were, there isn’t enough.    I know it is premature to just say I want to move on, made my decision after 6 of those games ended up pretty much really good or not good enough, but I have had enough of being patient and letting him show the reality either way.  So in my view, he Could still validate himself to a decent degree if he smokes the last three starts. But also in my view I don’t expect to see it. Maybe one more high quality start, would be my expectation. So yes he could still somehow justify having the job next year. If that happened I still wouldn’t have much faith given the last three years and all that has transpired. Again, there is a lot of bad play to offset.
