Opinions: can Panthers produce enough pass rush against Rogers?

The Broncos chased him around all game and made him very uncomfortable.  If he can't sit in the pocket and pick the secondary apart that's a plus. If they can chase him down and put him on his ass when he scrambles, that's a major plus.

Our pass rush isn't as strong as Denver's. Will they risk sending blitz packages against him or hope for the best without fancy blitzes?  If they can't plant him in the ground, it may be a long day.  Opinions?

We wont shut him down like the Broncos did. They blew GB out, we don't have to do that. All we need is to 1 more point. I think we will mix it up. Some blitzes, some 4 men rushes. I'm really hoping Dwan Edwards is able to get healthy by game day.

Allen vs Bakhtiari and Bene vs Cobb are the key matchups.

Bakhtiari is the weak link on the GB OL and Allen has had success against him before. If Allen can generate consistent pressure on Rodgers blindside then we can force Rodgers into taking some early chances on throws.

Rodgers loves to get the ball out quick to Cobb if it's there and if Bene can keep tight coverage on him for the first 3 seconds of the snap then it allows the pass rush time to get to him. Chris Harris, who is probably the best slot CB in the NFL, locking down Cobb was the key to the Broncos defense Sunday night.

We'll find out soon.  We definitely don't have a pair of edge rushers like Ware/Miller, but I have a lot of hope that our pass rush will get much better down the stretch once we get Big Money back and get Dwan Edwards back to help out our DT rotation.  In the meantime, looks like we may get Addison back this week which should help.  Our pass rush looked good against the Colts until late in the game when our current lack of depth was exposed.  The Colts' OL being allowed to tackle also didn't help matters.

Our main problem right now is injuries. Shaq is out, who would be fantastic for LB blitzes. Dwan is back out practicing at least in limited amounts, not sure if he will be ready to go on Sunday, so KK and Star get tired out eventually if the Offense struggles. Addison is out and CJ is IR-Desg-to-Return, so our DE's are having a heart attack on the field by 4th Q. I wouldn't worry about J-No, he will be there. Norwell is out presumably for a few weeks, so get used to seeing Silatolu out there (Ugh why is he still here).

Thank Based God for Ryan Kalil's magic recovery.

Looks like Shaq will be back and Addison was at practice with a helmet today, so that's a good sign as well.

Rodgers is going to locate the weakest link in the secondary and light his ass up. I expect to see alot of three wide with a TE on the opposite side locate who harper is guarding and work him all day.

If they want to make Richard Rodgers the focal point of the passing game they have my full blessing to go right ahead.

They're definitely going to try to isolate Roman Harper in space one on one.

    • The good thing about replacing a bad player is you really have nothing to lose. If their replacement is bad so what, you didn't get much worse and probably saved money.
    • I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.
    • lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
