Cam's celebration was not excessive

The only reason they couldn't criticize Cam on BANNER-GATE IMO's, because of the Panthers clearly written policy on signs/banners.

But yes it's changing. However, guys on the Broadcast team today, reverted back to their preconceived feelings with out ever taking the game dynamics into account.

I didn't have sound since I was watching at a bar here in Philly so i can't speak for that. But the guy said he got permission from the team to bring it in so they could've rolled with that and criticized Cam.

Cam has always been pretty class about his celebrations.  Sure, people don't like showboaters, and he's a big time showboater!

It's grown on me.  I love it!

Now what happened today was he shut someone else up.  Woodyard can talk all he wants, but the moment Cam takes their sack dance he's upset and offended.  He needs to grow up!  Should have stopped Cam...Oh wait, there is a reason they are 2-7.

People won't like it, but he's not going to tolerate people talking junk about HIS team when they are down.  It's mental.  I love Cam.  He's protecting his house, getting inside the heads of our opponets...man he's the real MVP!

Now if Brady did it, everyone would laud Brady's competitiveness...  Who cares!  Go Panthers!

I lol'd, even stirs pied this.

5 years later, and still this petty bullshit.

Some bitter folks will never allow themselves to grow. Never wanted Cam in the draft, just wait to complain about him. What a miserable pathetic existence as a fan.

Thank you for this thread Jeremy.

Overreact much?

Charles Davis and the entire Broadcast team made it an indictment on Cam's lack of class, even stating "act like you've been there", etc. That was a reflex/Cam reaction IMO.

And because of that, these/those clowns never took the game dynamics into account (the chippiness, that Newton was reacting to).

Plus, Newton didn't do it in anyone's face.

Woodyard was talking trash, shoving players after the whistle, and all around being a jackass the entire game.

He got scored on and trolled by Cam. Who promptly laughed in his face once he tried to get tough.

No problem with the celebration, and who cares how anyone on the outside views our team. They don't like us anyway. They also have been downing our 9-0 record from the start, saying we haven't played anyone. Fug em.

woodyard and the rest of that Titan defense was talking that noise all game, but when Cam does it they want to cry.

The announcers started this poo, nothing said until these guys were butthurt., Cam is Cam take it or leave it, guess they are just butthurt.

Yup!

All three of them went after Cam hard, with out even taking the game dynamics into account. I could see that. It was totally irresponsible, and personal on their part.

I can still think 5+ second TD celebrations are lame.

Doing an improvised dance that drags on way longer than it should just looks stupid.  It's not bad because it's immature or whatever the media want to call it.  It's bad because it looks lame as hell.

end of the day, this is small potatoes

My response was less about your post, and more about the general sentiment from some fans about celebrations.

Cam Newton was drafted to Carolina after the Panthers fielded one of the worst teams to ever play a season in 2010. Yet ever since, somehow celebrating became an issue whether we are winning or losing. Why? Who knows really. Some of these people are just old racist fools, some are just living in an era that passed them by, either way they need to get the fug over it or find another team. I'm not sugar coating it anymore. It's time to poo or get off the pot. These are our Carolina Panthers, anyone who doesn't like it can get to stepping.

Cam Newton's awesome.  He's probably the player that will establish the Panthers as Carolina's team for good.  I can still think 5+ second TD celebrations are lame.

Do the Superman, hand the ball to a fan, and smile at the defense as they sulk back to the sidelines.  That poo's awesome.

It's a game for entertainment.

You don't want to be entertained? Great. Don't watch this. Go watch some cricket or something.

    • 6 pages of tuka and Seltzer arguing is actually 97 pages long
    • 100%. And these same people will claim you have an agenda. You can't have it every way. We had the lowest rated defense in the league last year. Statistically the worst ever. By PFF grades (for whatever that's worth- but they are readily accepted, used, and conveyed by most "reputable" sources), the defense was the worst ever. Not only that, PFF rated our receiving corp the worst in football last season. The absolute worst... out of 32 teams. Which is why regardless of the lip service Canales and Morgan paid to the current guys, they knew it would be criminal not to give Bryce more help. People fixating on team stats and not taking these things into context are stupid, plain and simple, and I'm for one thankful they're not running this team (or probably anything for that matter bc they obviously can't discern reality. Again, going back to the eyeball test these Narrative Nancies seem to hate so much, did they not see the windows Bryce was putting balls into? Have the generally not watched much NFL? Please, please show me the film where all these NFL QBs are making throws like this to this point Bryce was "below average" down the stretch compared to them. Bryce made more wow throws in that 3 game stretch of the Bucs, Chiefs, and Eagles than every other QB combined in all the years since since Cam got hurt I genuinely am baffled by people that can watch throws like that and act like it's nothing. I guarantee you Steve Spagnola, Todd Bowles, and and Vic Fangio didn't think it was nothing after watching the little guy torch them with players those teams would be embarrassed to trot out at the skill position players. The national media spent all year making excuses for Mahomes not having elite weapons when he had multiple 1st & 2nd round talents at the skill positions along with future HoFers in Kelce and Hopkins. Bryce wasn't throwing for 300 yards every week with David Moore and Adam Theilen in spite of jaw dropping throws and you want to say the guy played below average. For those people, again, we ain't watching the same sport. And the name calling doesn't change that... The vitriol and projection... it's off the effing charts with these people.
    • "Well you see if you remove this terrible game that terrible game this other terrible game and then focus on these games you'll see he's actually one of the better QB's in the league and he's actually as good as Jayden Daniels". My god this place is delusional. I love it.
