Playoff date?

Sorry for the dedicated thread, but does anybody know if our first game will be on Saturday the 16th or Sunday the 17th, and what time? I haven't been able to find the info out online yet. Thanks Huddle!

The NFL works with the hotels and airlines  to keep the prices up and part of it is waiting till as late as possible to announce the playoff games. Thats what I was told

Its pretty basic economics really. And I only know that because I'm one of those people that had to book a flight and hotel room without knowing which day the game is. 

 

For example, if my flight is Friday and I know for sure that the game is Saturday, I can get away with only booking one night instead of 2 nights if the game were on Sunday, therefore costing the hotel money. It also forces you to book a Monday return flight early, or risk waiting till the prices soar for a Sunday flight if you know the game is Saturday.

The NFL could care less if hotels/airlines make money.

They're not going to schedule a 1p ET game if it's SEA vs SF (for example), regardless of how much SF hotels could possibly make in the deal.

You just need to do a better job of planning on your road trip. Enjoy the city you're in for an extra night and roll into work around noon on Monday with a big fat Victory Monday smile on your face.

C'mon, man. The NFL schedules its playoff games to draw the highest ratings. Once they know the matchups, they'll schedule the games. The game that is most desirable to viewers will be scheduled at 4pm on Sunday. If that's an NFC game, an AFC matchup will be scheduled at 1pm Sunday and 8pm Saturday night. The other NFC game will be Saturday at 4pm. Each conference gets an early game and a late game. 

And that's it. They're not in cahoots with hotels and airlines.

And by the way, try booking any travel to any city at the last minute. You'll see that it has nothing to do with sports.

Come on man, clearly these multi billion dollar organizations need to collaborate with the nfl to make tens of thousands of extra dollars each year. Their financial viability depends on it.

The only people the NFL conspires with is getting the refs to fug us at every opportunity.  Oh and the networks.  They definitely conspire with the networks.

But tools like this show why the NFL can't possibly begin scheduling games anytime before the season is over.
