Defensive let downs

Can someone please explain to me how, after so many close calls defensively, we cannot get 1 extra stop or 1 extra scoring drive to dagger teams? The horrific execution in the second half of that game was embarrassing. Guys running wide open, no pressure, loose coverage, trying to force them to waste time. 3 and outs on offense from a 1 wr 3 running back set that loses 2-3 yards per attempt. It's frustrating to watch, and by all accounts the players do not admit to playing like poo. All we needed was 1 quality drive in the 2nd half. The Seahawks ran the ball two plays in the 2nd half... Running was not a threat to beat us.

Sunday will be ugly if we continue to play soft in the secondary and lose the ability to get pressure.

As far as QB pressure goes, Russel was holding the ball about a half a second, then getting the ball out. That happens sometimes when teams go into "wounded animal with nothing to lose" mode. Happens. It does suck that we couldn't put together one decent drive on offense that could have resulted in a FG.

First, we got pressure. We blitzed. Hell, we blitzed Norman on a corner blitz. I've only seen us do that one other time this year. We blitzed our FS (Boston). Pressure was applied. Playoff teams make plays. Seattle made plays.

If you're a coach, and you go into the half up 31, what would YOU do? Our coaches didn't spend 2 weeks creating a game plan based on being up 31. So, at the half, you can continue doing what you've done, or change it up completely. Knowing the history of past games, you know its going to be tight and not easy to score points. So, you can either toss the ball around trying to get more points (and possibly give the other team more chances with the ball and more time on the clock) OR you try to shorten the game knowing that they're going to score, but you believe you can bleed the clock before they can score enough. Our coaches decided to not take unesscessary risks with the ball and to get 3-4 yards per play get 3rd and short and try to keep the clock running. Could they have done it better, of course, and RR said as much, but they were successful. You can say, "well, if Seattle had another possession or another minute..." Guess what? They didn't. That's not how the clock works, you have the time you have. The plan was successful. Not flawless, but it worked. We were able to experience it, and now have a better familiarity in how to deal with it.

When you watch this team from now until the end of your days, keep this in mind. "It's a process." You hear RR say it all the time and it applies to everything. There's no top of the mountain. It's all part of growing, experiencing, adjusting. RR knows he's not perfect, so he immerses himself in the process and what he can take away as a learning experience for next time, and there will ALWAYS be a next time.

Russell Wilson is the luckiest SOB alive.......two passes where his receiver gets their tip toes inbounds and the near sack pass over Norman for a touchdown.  Plays like those really helped them, thankfully Carson Palmer doesn't crap golden horseshoes so I can't see that stuff happening again next week.

I'm more concerned about Robert McClain. He was beaten like a drum over and over and over. Should I be worried? Why didn't we roll safety help to him? And when we did, it was too late

We got fresh one!!! Welcome

You didn't see the Green Bay game, where Packers dropped 2-3 interceptions, and batted ball that went for a touchdown instead of a pick?  Palmer had all kinds of lucky charms in that game.

    • You would hope so. I’m confused why the sports world seems split on Bryce when he’s obviously not working out.
    • So let’s do the reverse? Make everyone agree everything he does is a disaster? I also think the whole “gaslighting” is on the eye of the beholder. It went from he can’t avoid one single sack countered with he actually did that well Sunday (with data backing it) to a little breakdown of why he is so bad. People are going to have different opinions. I’m also not going to pretend this wasn’t happening Day one with this little QB.
    • All this great stuff he has done, how often does he do it?  I have it at three or four games out of 14 where he was very good and then you get a drive here or a series there where there are some good things. Here is the gaslight part: everyone has put him on a curve with his first year the baseline, neglecting to understand how bad he was then. Even if he comes back twice as good, where does that really leave him? 25th ranked or thereabouts.     He had so far to go, and still does, it is a Major ‘settle’ to accept his play as worthy of giving him our future.  You want to settle when the Bucs have Mayfield, and the Saints have overtaken us at QB? We will be third in the division at QB. That is good enough for y’all?
