we call that a bandwagon fan.

the nfl is entertainment, not a gang war. I like the aesthetics of sports and uniform and helmet histories and logo's. I collect helmets and such.

I approach it more like an owner or a commercial designer would.

when you become an adult, terms like bandwagon fan are for children. I am not obligated to pick a team to root for and stick with them for some stupid reason. Its all just entertainment for my free time and a silly converstation to have at work or with friends.

I enjoy being right picking who wins and loses, I dont need to be loyal to one team to do that. I was kicked off a Rams site in part for being the only guy to pick Rams to lose the last game of year to win the fake betting tokens they do for pickems...and also for simply talking about the Rams move from St Louis.

The reason bandwagon has such a negative connotation is because bandwagoners never experience the negatives of fandom. I get that you are entertained by football and want to watch and cheer for good games. Makes sense. But there is no emotional investment.

And while all of that is fine, the negatives are what elevates the joy. The other interesting aspect is there is usually but not always some kind of regional tie for one reason or another. Or something that interested you at one point and you decided, like an adult, that you would commit.

But bandwagoners are essentially fans of every team. Every good team anyways. Because they enjoy the highest level of competition. And that's fine. But that's not what most people here are.

Most people here, like most forums, have an emotion investment. That is not a childish thing. That is a very adult thing. To commit to something through good and bad. Ups and downs. It fosters that gang war attitude you mentioned but that is a familial protectiveness and is natural. It can go too far but it's natural, human and adult.

I absolutely agree that it is entertainment and just for fun. Bandwagon is not an offensive term, but its what you are. You would be on the Cardinals forum if they would have beat us. You will not last very long here either my friend.

no, a bandwagon fan is someone who pretends to be a loyal fan to try and gain acceptance by those people and be part of the in-crowd.To be part of the hip sports rend at the moment. None of my emotion is invested in that way.

Actually I was at the Cardinal forum telling they would lose and they got mad of course lol

I did in fact pick Panthers to beat Seattle and Cardinals.

This guy is obsessed with trumpeting his putative superiority.

That would be the less mature definition of bandwagon fan. Many people are bandwagon fans of sports they don't follow closely. Meaning that they just want to see the good games...which are the best teams. But no emotional investment.

both can and do apply.

you can be knowledgeable and not knowledgeable about a sport and be a bandwagon fan.
