Remember when Greg Lloyd was a Panther?

The Panther mirror the 2008 Philadelphia Phillies to a tee.  Ed Wade was the original GM that brought in Cole Hamels, Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins, and Ryan Howard.  But even with all that talent they needed someone to find the ancillary pieces.  So the Phillies fired Wade and brought in Pat Gillick.  He was able to fill the holes that Wade couldn't.  And turned the Phillies into World Series Champions.

It is kind of like what is going on with the Panthers.  Marty Hurney brought in the talent, but couldn't find the additional pieces needed to make that talent into a championship team.

Hurney deserves some credit for some great players. Good all around teams and vision are more difficult to come by than a few superstars that anyone would have chosen in those spots.

Gettleman built this machine and philisophy, Hurney just provided a few great parts.
