Bill voth,  who I usually like, took on the same rhetoric afterwards as well saying "this isn't a good look" and chastising cam without trying to investigate the "why". As good and as fair as he may seem,  he's still 100% one of "them" the press and their modus operandi is sways,  especially now where the emphasis is always to be the quickest draw rather than the most accurate, is to shoot first then ask questions later....maybe. ..as long as it's still a hot topic.

Bill at least isn't a Panthers fan or a Charlotte native. His coverage is generally pretty objective but its not affiliated with the Panthers or Charlotte officially. The Observer just seem to want to continue a narrative of "look at this divisive/arrogant team and QB" even though they're benefitting most from this team's success.

Yeh, and I've been reading it from writers and fans outside of Charlotte for the last two days. But to see it from our own "local" press is just ridiculous. You know that Buffalo kicker he referenced that lost "like a professional"?? Way to use BUFFALO as your example of f*cking SuperBowl excellence. With the amount of fans that turned out to welcome the team home (props to anyone that went) you'd think the CO would accept that most Panther fans appreciate the team going through the same emotions that we do as fans and rally the city, rather than dump on the 26 yo QB that got us there.

Seriously, F*ck Scott Fowler.

I'm likely to be blocked by Mr. Fowler on Twitter very soon now.  :)

Which is ironic since half of them have blocked me on twitter for politely disagreeing with them or one of their articles.

I've unfollowed the lot of them. Nothing worth reading that we don't already know.

They're sports world star-f'ers.

The Charlotte Observer does suck, but I hate that Cam gave his haters what they wanted by walking out of the press conference. They were waiting for him to slip up to talk sh*t about him. I do believe that if he didn't hear what Chris Harris was saying, that he wouldn't have walked out. It just got to be too much for him, but he shouldn't have left.

The NFL needs to change the post game press conference set up. The winning and losing teams should be in separate areas and not just separated by a damn curtain. What kind of bootleg sh*t is that?

Also, a lot of media and fans are blowing this press conference out of proportion. Yes, Cam shouldn't have walked out, but people are acting like he murdered someone with their reactions.

It was Scott Fowler, I don't want to link it but its not hard to miss, pretty much the lead article on the CO sports site.

"Cam Newton got his comeuppance" screams loudly two things to me:

Mr. Fowler thinks Mr. Newton is "uppity".

Mr. Fowler thinks Mr. Newton should "learn his place".

As I've pointed out in a couple of threads since Sunday, I grew up in the Jim Crow South.  You can't fugging fool ME with your coded language.  I've heard it all before.

It's possible to write a critical piece without sounding like you're lecturing from your high horse. My three favorites:

Jonathan Jones: After devastating loss, did Cam Newton hold up his goal of being a role model?

Sean Keeley: Cam Newton is whatever you want him to be

Scott Gustin: Why you’re wrong about Cam Newton (and the postgame press conference)

You're correct. But you must remember that the two writers are coming from two totally different generations and perspectives.  I am not going to slam any one of them. To me it's fairly interesting to get all the different points of view.

Bottom line with me is that if you give it, then you have to take it.

Social Media has allowed the world to become ghetto trash.

No one has any class any more and expects players and race car drivers and people in the military to go through violent emotional situations and just be stoic and humble like nothing happened 2 minutes later.

Those same ghetto people turn around and beat their kids, scream at their 6 year old for running to the wrong base in a T-ball game, try to run over other people while driving---

same people want help want to take, but would walk over someone else's dead bleeding body for a dollar or run them off the road and smile just to get to the next stop light first.

People suck. That all. Some day an asteroid will change all of that. Yep I need a drink

When, in the past, did Cam "give it" to the sports media?

As far as my observations are concerned, Cam has been nothing but RESPECTFUL to the sports media for years, even after they chewed him up and spit him out at Auburn and during the NFL draft process.

Or is your point that because Cam expresses joy in his chosen career on the field, it is incumbent upon sports media to take him down a peg or two?  Because if that is what you're saying, then that is equally stupid.

I'll shout it to my dying breath but that was a set up..

I could see if opening media day was set up the exact same way but it wasn't..Each team had different times to be on the floor..when you have opposing players sitting right beside each other separated by a curtin right after the game where emotions are running high for the winners and losers you were intending to draw a reaction..

NFL knew what what they were doing..

When has the traditional media disrespected Cam? If you're saying that this article is disrespecting Cam, then you're just as emotionally butt-hurt as the rest of the Panthers fans who shouted "it's all in good fun", when Cam was "just being Cam", and telling people "Too bad they dont make Band-Aids for feelings."

The NFL is shady, so it's possible that it was a set up.

Chris Harris claims that he didn't know Cam Newton was on the other side of the curtain, but I'm not sure I believe him because he was so loud when he was talking about their strategy to shut down Cam and the offense.
