Mike & Mike on Jake......

Replay the games where Jake has had bad outings. The opposing defense rattles him, and he has this bad habit of going long. Where the hell are the slants and two running back sets to pass out of the backfield? Why cant he chip away rather than go for home run passes? And when has he shovel passed to his blocking running back? Its a 1st and 10 game......

It could be that he hasn't lost much of anything... rather other teams have just figured him out

I would agree, but watching his body language, I can't... It seems he's doing more of it to himself than opponents are. He always had happy feet, but now he's starting to dance as soon as he pulls out from center, way before blitzes even come. He was doing it before Philly even started coming after him in teh 1st quarter. His eyes on the replays look like "I'm going to f*ck up! oh no!!!" right before he passes. He just looks like a totally different QB. I'd say he's lost some velocity on his throws too, but there were several throws he made last year (Rosario in SD, and one to King that I remember) that were absolute rockets.

I just think his game was predicated on clutch play at clutch times, and despite some hiccups, coming through when it counted. He doesn't have that mojo anymore.

I've never been a Jake fan and never thought much of him, but I don't care who was behind center last Sunday it wouldn't have mattered. The Panthers O-line was just lost out there.

I think it's still too early to pull Jake just yet. But if he has another horrible game, you gotta see what someone else can do.

Wow these are like the first analysts(if you really call mike and mike football analysts) that said keep Jake out

Everybody else said he gives us the best chance to win and keep him in

I like Golic, but Greenie is a metrosexual pussy that just happens to have the gift for gab.

At least Golic played, and knows the inner workings of how NFL football really works..... to a certain degree.

Tampa. Jake wasn't rattled by pressure.....too much passing and he threw the ball up for guys to make plays.

Oak. Jake wasn't rattled by pressure. Too many deep balls against a pretty good secondary.

AZ. Jake wasn't rattled by pressure. Asked Jake to basically be a passing QB early.....

Philly, repeat of AZ.

Jake isn't that good....asking him to do all this unneeded early passing is Carolina CHOOSING to beat themselves.

Fox has a so-called running football team that TAKES ITSELF out of the running game. In every ass kicking the coaches are asking Jake to go downfield WAY to often and it isn't needed......that is why we get behind. We aren't passing b/c we are getting beat......we are getting beat b/c we pass too much. Jake has been HORRIFIC lately.....then only thing worse has been Fox's coaching calls....and they have been worse than what Jake is doing. Fox is creating this new and improved bad Jake.

What do you mean Jake was not rattled by pressure in the Arizona or Philly games? Did you even watch the game? He was battered and beaten on every pass attempt. Even the OLine admitted they let him get hit way too often.

Stop trying to interject logic and reality, it gets in the way of the constant bashing and over the hill statements. No one had any hand in it but jake. It is all his fault and bringing in Moore or anybody else will instantly fix everything.

It is playcalling more than Jake. Why is he throwing so much so early? Carolina's offense is EXTREMELY predictable....makes it easy to apply pressure when you know if it is a run or pass.....or when they literally repeat the same plays over and over in the same game. Go back and look at the all the actual picks.....you can chaulk most of them up to just a poor decisions. Why are you asking Jake so early to be put into those situations. It all comes back to coaching/playcalling. The worst thing Carolina can do is have a nice long drive to open a game......they show all there cards and gameplan offensively. Teams can then tee-off and call 80% of the plays before they happen. Too many opponents have commented over the past few years about Carolina standing out b/c of predictability.

    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
