Falcons D better with Courtney Upshaw

Is anyone else embarrassed that the top thread on the NFC Champions message board is about a division rival? A division rival signing a player who has never had more than 2 sacks in a season?

I went to the Saints and Falcons boards and neither of them have anything about us, which is how it should be.

Lastly, you do all realize that the video of Upshaw flipping a car is a commercial right? He does not flip cars anymore than geckos talk to themselves about car insurance.

Come on the video made you chuckle a little, right? Atlanta has this on there webpage now.

Seriously, I think CU is a solid player. I believe I fear the scheme he'll be used in the most, the Seattle scheme.

They made Bruce Irvin, a small guy from WV a beast in that scheme. Look what they did with Michael Bennett. Nobody wanted him, they took him and now he is a beast.

Remember in the Seattle Bruce Irving Role you have to have speed or be a speed rusher and be able to cover routes by TE and RB'S even slot Wr.. Upshaw doesn't have that skill..

with regard to coples it has less to do with his age and more to do with the fact that the jets were playing him badly out of position as a standup OLB in a 3-4.  he projects as a prototypical 4-3 DE in much the same way that upshaw is an edge setter who will beef up atlanta's run D without doing much for their pass rush.

expecting upshaw to become some kind of bookend pass rusher to beasley would be like expecting coples to have become justin houston in his situation.  i mean yeah it's possible but common sense dictates that it's improbable.

like, let's say philly brown is young and yeah it's not impossible that he could have 1500 receiving yards this season but somebody acting like it's remotely probable is laughable.

looking back over newsome's 1st/2nd round picks since about 2010 there's a mediocre selection or two amongst the really good ones

sergio kindle/terrence cody in 2010, bleh

Kindle is a pretty interesting bust story. Two months after he was drafted, he fell down two flights of stairs and fractured his skull. Missed his rookie season and was never the same after that.
