I work with a Falcons Fan

Ok so we just hired this guy about a month ago where I work. Nice guy. Loves Football. Big time Falcons fan. I don't bust his balls too much, just friendly banter. We talked earlier about how pissed I was about the last game, and Jake killed it for us and so on. So today I bring up the game Sunday, and just as a joke I ask "Whats the over/under of Jake throwing 4 picks you think?" And to my surprise, he goes "I doubt he throws more than one." So I ask him why he says that? And he responds "I actually don't think he is a bad quarterback, he's just had two really bad games, thats not who he is".

I felt weird. A FALCONS fan has more respect for the Panthers quarterback than I had at that point. I thought it was wild. Just thought Id share. Either way, here's to Jake bouncing back with a vengeance on Sunday :cheers2:

I have been talking to some of my Falcon friends and they are not talking up this game like they usually do. I have been surprised too on the comments about Jake from them. One said he was actually thinking it was a bad thing (for Atlanta) to be playing the Panthers right after the Eagles game. He also thinks Jake may be really good after such a bad start. Don't get me wrong they still think Atlanta will win, but they sure are not acting like they normally do. Funny how things can be viewed by fans of different teams.

i'd probably be feeling the same way if roles were reversed. it's a bit too perfect.

i remember feeling a bit too confident in the panthers last year going into atlanta. i went to that game with some friends that are falcon fans and they were just sure that they were going to lose and it looked like it a couple times. i felt really uneasy about the confidence everyone had that the panthers were going to win and it turned incredibly ugly. the panthers were supposed to win that one.

i don't know what's going to happen. im not counting on the panthers winning but i'm not counting them out. i've got this hope that something is going to happen, that the panthers will have that switch turned on.

i think that's what the falcons are afraid of. it's a bit too perfect of a scenario.

Yeah I remember thinking that way too.. I think its going to be a team win in spite of Jake's troubles.. we have done it before and we certainly can do it again.

    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
    • It is goofy how some people hate Bryce so much that they're flat out lying to try and remain entitled to their pessimism. It's insanity. Most fans are realists and eagerly awaiting the season to see if we get pre- or post-benching Bryce to start the season and how much he is able to do with some young and developing weapons. Many of us understand that these young guys are going to have growing pains on the job as well as the new defense, but the fans with all of the excuses for why Bryce can't be successful are pounding the no excuses drum. Personally, I'd prefer the Keep Pounding drum.
