I Don't Get The Celebration Here...

This is absolutely absurd. Rescinding the tag on a player that almost everyone considered a one year rental because your long term negotiations have reached an impasse is nothing like trading your franchise QB after having an MVP season.

If you genuinely believe these two things are even marginally similar then there is no hope for you.

I don't care how you try to twist it letting go of Norman was flat out idiotic. Theirs nothing wrong with a one year rental, the patriots got a SB renting Revis for a year.

But let me guess "the future", it seems people are more worried about winning 4 years from now then winning next season.

And I would bet my life if that absurd scenario that I originally posted happened, there would be some morons in here just fine with it. mimicking word for word what I typed.

I was going to say something about this myself. But I decided that is wasn't worth the effort. But I am glad someone did so I could pie it.

I realize that emotions are running a tad high right now. But c'mon man.

And I don't get the limit either. I mean is there only so much pie to go around? Is it a real tangible thing? Do they only make so much pie a day that they need to ration it? Man this interwebz thingy really does confuse me sometimes.

I will bet money that in the scenario you mentioned that not a single person would be saying ok this is fine that Gettleman just traded Cam. Anyone that did would be flogged and publicly shunned.

And I'm one of the biggest Gettleman guys out there. I'd be the first to say ok the man has lost it.

I'm more than 100% positive that if we trade Cam tomorrow people on this board would say the following, Gettleman knows what he's doing, don't question Gettleman, Cam was overrated, Gettleman was thinking about the future.

Another quality Goobypls post.

We got worse today. There is absolutely no getting around that. You can talk back and forth about whatever but we just lost an elite player. It's as if people forget what Norman did to teams #1s last year and he was hitting his stride. That said this hyperbolic thread about "pride" and other bullshit comes across as a 12 year old child's post.

DG did what he thought was best for the team long term today. I do believe Josh and his agent made him feel uneasy about chemistry and lockerroom stuff playing under the tag. There is no way gettleman pulls this tag without thinking of the short term ramifications and balancing that with the long term.

Sad day today for panther fans. We just lost one of our great homegrown underdog players. Just makes me sad. It's not disastrous but we took a hit today. Looking forward to the draft and the rest of our signings to see what we come up with. No way Norman comes back to play for us.

theres hope! theres hope! theres a chance!

most likely most probably not but..  i think josh wants to be here and we wont get as much as he wants elsewhere.. not out of the question he comes back if the deals are close

There were people in the original Norman thread celebrating cause we can get a conditional 3rd round pick for losing an all pro corner, so I stand by statement

Ask your boss for a job, tell all your friends and family how well you did at work and you are negotiating your raise, then go back and tell them all you asked for too much and the company decided to fire you as a result.  Lol...  that's not humiliating?

I hadn't read about the trade stuff, so good points there.  I'm aware he can get paid anywhere, but the sentiment behind my post was that he wanted to be here and we wanted him back.  Yes, we were far apart, but eventually he would've had to come down, especially considering he was already able to negotiate with other teams and apparently that didn't blossom into anything either.  This just seems to be a pride thing...

...I like our new mantra, nobody is bigger than the team. The salary cap will never be held hostage under Gman...so like the song says: move btch get out the way...

Unless Norman was holding out and tried to play hardball and said he wouldn't play until he got paid. And Gentleman called his buff.

Holdouts are a notorious distraction in the locker room. No one here is happy Josh is gone. And no one here wasn't okay with a one year rental, but if your rental isn't gonna play, why give him 13mil?

You really think Norman was going to sit out? Really??? Norman has never made more than  what? 700k in a season, he was going to make 1 mill a game. This is just part of the cat and mouse game, you obviously haven't been watching the NFL for long.

Seeing as how funerals are for deaths and our roster is full of talent

I'm not seeing a reason to put on a black suit when we're still full of life.

    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
