Good for him.  He gets his money.  Skins are probably his best bet.  That division is a mess and they may be in position to control it.  The Niners have been a dumpster fire since Harbaugh bounced.

I'm just glad the Falcons or Bucs didn't sign him.

this isn't based on anything but i get a major one year fluke feeling from kirk cousins

Agreed.  Lots of backup QBs have come in and looked good for relatively brief periods.  Let's see what he looks like once NFL DCs have a full offseason to study his film.  Franchising him was actually a smart move.  Make him prove it before crippling the franchise by giving him A big money long term deal.

Well if he isn't coming back here then my ideal scenario would be:

1-AFC

2-NFC East so him and Odell go at it twice a year

If he signs for 14 million a year, and the rumors are true that we offered him 12 that's pretty disappointing that both sides couldn't reach an agreement

In the NFL where contracts are not fully guaranteed and your career can be gone in an instant, you worry about getting paid first when the time comes and then the Super Bowl.

Easy for us fans to say "Take the guaranteed $13MM" for one season, which could be his last, for a chance at the Super Bowl instead of grabbing whatever guaranteed money he is going to get now...$30MM maybe?

I'm as optimistic as anyone about this team's chances for next year, but only the largest of homers thought this team would be as good as they were last year with the WR corp (sans KB) and O-Line that was staring us in the face.  Who's to say Washington can't surprise within two years?

Bottom line is that you never know anything except what is guaranteed.  As long as the owners continue to rape these players with non-guaranteed contracts in the most physically demanding of sports, these guys are going to grab the money.  It's too much money these days to not try to grab it while you can.

Pretty funny to read on here that CJ and Harper (This guy is still here?!?) are supposedly telling him to come back on a one-year deal.  Easy to say when you've made your money already.

I curious any official word on what the panthers offered him??

Not 100% but the articles from Voth and the Observer all mentioned the 6 year 63 million deal Maxwell signed as a baseline and that the Panther's offered him 11m a season, I figure it was probably over 5-6 years.

Glad to see he got his.  But I agree, if reports were that we came in around 12, and he ends up signing for 14, then something bad was going on in the conversations.  That's a shame.

Could come down to the guaranteed portion.

Length of the deal as well.  Talking a 32-33 year old CB at the end of it, although I'm sure there is a way to structure it so a release in the final years isn't too devastating to the salary cap.  Don't hold me to that last statement, however.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports free agent Josh Norman is discussing five-year deals with the Redskins and 49ers, and is expected to get $14-$15 million per season.

That money is what Norman has been looking for all along. It would put him well ahead of the annual $12.5 million Janoris Jenkins pulled down earlier this offseason. Norman appears set to become one of the 2-3 highest paid corners in the league.

Redskins and/or 49ers continue to make poor decisions.

Wonder how the Skins pass rush will effect Norman's productivity.

ah ok, I'd find it hard to turn down a longer but equally lucrative contract, especially with his age he would have retired after that and contract was up and very well off. I hope he can still find a way to come back, but we will see.
