Butler became target after William Jackson III went at 24?

Any idea of other players we would have taken over Butler, had they fallen as well?

Quite a few. Coleman, Kelly, Apple, etc. None ever had much of a chance of falling.

Butler was not their overall number 1 pick, but he was the best they were able to get.

Was Shaq Lawson rated above Butler to your knowledge?

Well, when  you pick 30 in a draft, most teams are never going to get their #1 player on their board.  And BTW, I would rather the Panthers were picking 30 vs. picking in the top 10.  Obviously, Butler was the top guy left on their board, so they picked him.

That much is obvious. I am just intrigued/curious to know just how lucky we got, according to our board.

For instance, did we have him rated highly enough that if we picked at 20, he still would have been the pick, if no acceptable trade offers came in?

Gotcha....well, we do know the Panthers were surprised he fell to them (I guess they thought the Lions would pick him at 16 too)!. In any case, we will find out how fortunate the Panthers were to get him at #30 in the near future.  I think it is a good pick and we will all be pleased once Butler is on the field.  Here's hoping they now draft a CB, and an OT since Oher is only under contract for this season.
